## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Bluesky Scraper

Extract Bluesky profiles, posts, followers/following and search results via the AT Protocol.

Unlike most social platforms, Bluesky's public API needs **no login, no proxy, no cookies** for
profiles, a user's posts, followers/following, and account search — verified live before this
actor was built. The one exception is **keyword post search**, which Bluesky itself requires a
logged-in session for (not a wall we're working around) — supply a Bluesky
[App Password](https://bsky.app/settings/app-passwords) (never your real account password) to
unlock it.

### What a row looks like

Profile (`mode: "profiles"`):

```json
{
  "type": "profile",
  "handle": "bsky.app",
  "did": "did:plc:z72i7hdynmk6r22z27h6tvur",
  "display_name": "Bluesky",
  "description": "official Bluesky account...",
  "followers_count": 34864572,
  "follows_count": 15,
  "posts_count": 863,
  "created_at": "2023-04-12T04:53:57.057Z"
}
```

Post (`mode: "posts"` or `"search_posts"`), follower/following relation (`mode: "followers"`/
`"following"`), and account search result (`mode: "search_accounts"`) rows follow the same
flat shape — see `## Output` below for one example of each.

### Modes

| Mode | Needs | Login required? |
|---|---|---|
| `profiles` | `handles` | No |
| `posts` | `handles` | No |
| `followers` | `handles` | No |
| `following` | `handles` | No |
| `search_accounts` | `search_term` | No |
| `search_posts` | `search_term` + `bluesky_identifier` + `bluesky_app_password` | **Yes** |

`handles` accepts a bare handle (`bsky.app`), an `@handle`, or a full profile URL.

### Output

- **profile** row: see above.
- **post** row: `uri`, `cid`, `author_handle`, `text`, `created_at`, `is_reply`, `like_count`,
  `repost_count`, `reply_count`, `quote_count`.
- **relation** row (followers/following): `relation` (`follower_of`/`follows`), `source_handle`,
  `handle`, `display_name`.
- **search\_actor** row: same shape as a profile row.

### Free preview

Runs on the free Apify tier are capped at 25 rows. Raise `max_results` once you need the full feed.

### Limits, honestly

- `search_posts` requires a Bluesky account and an App Password — it's the only mode that does,
  because Bluesky's own API requires it (confirmed live: the public endpoint returns 403, the
  authenticated endpoint returns 401 "AuthMissing" until a session token is supplied).
- A handle/term that fails is skipped and never billed — check the run log for what was skipped
  and why.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

profiles/posts/followers/following need 'Handles'. search\_accounts/search\_posts need 'Search term'. search\_posts additionally needs a Bluesky App Password (Bluesky itself requires a logged-in session for keyword post search - no way around it).

## `handles` (type: `array`):

Bluesky handles (e.g. "bsky.app" or "@bsky.app") or full profile URLs. Used by profiles/posts/followers/following modes.

## `search_term` (type: `string`):

Keyword used by search\_accounts/search\_posts modes.

## `bluesky_identifier` (type: `string`):

Your Bluesky handle or email, used only to log in for keyword post search. Never your final account's real password below - use an App Password.

## `bluesky_app_password` (type: `string`):

Generate one in the Bluesky app: Settings > App Passwords. Scoped and revocable - never your real account password.

## `max_results` (type: `integer`):

Maximum rows returned per run (spread across handles for posts/followers/following). The free preview is capped at 25.

  "mode": "profiles",
  "handles": [
    "bsky.app"
  ],

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
        "bsky.app"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("0xgollum/bluesky-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
