## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Coles Prices Scraper

Grocery prices from **Coles Australia**. Give it search terms or
Coles category URLs; it returns one row per product with the current
price, the was-price and saving, the unit price, whether the product
is on special, whether it is in stock, and the category.

No browser, so runs are fast and cheap. Public, logged-out pages
only.

### What you get

One row per product:

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `store` | `Coles` |
| `productId` | `8150288` |
| `name`, `brand`, `size` | `Full Cream Milk`, `Coles`, `3L` |
| `price` | `4.95` (AUD) |
| `wasPrice`, `saveAmount` | `6.90`, `1.40` — `null` when not on special |
| `isSpecial`, `promotionType` | `true`, `SPECIAL` |
| `unitPrice`, `unitMeasure` | `1.65`, `1l` |
| `comparablePrice` | `$1.65/ 1L` |
| `inStock`, `availabilityType` | `true`, `InStoreAndOnline` |
| `category`, `subCategory` | `Milk`, `Dairy, Eggs & Fridge` |
| `aisle` | `Full Cream Milk` |
| `imageUrl`, `url` | product photo, Coles product page |
| `sourceUrl`, `scrapedAt` | the listing page it came from, UTC |

### Input

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["milk", "sourdough bread"],
  "categoryUrls": ["https://www.coles.com.au/on-special"],
  "maxResults": 200,
  "specialsOnly": false,
  "inStockOnly": false
}
```

- **searchTerms** — searched one at a time, paged until `maxResults`.
- **categoryUrls** — any `coles.com.au` listing page: a `/browse/...`
  category, a `/search/products?q=...` search, or `/on-special`.
  Paging is added for you.
- **maxResults** — per search term and per URL. Each product returned
  is one billed result, so this is your cost control.
- **specialsOnly** — only products with a was-price or a promotion.
- **inStockOnly** — skip products Coles reports as unavailable.

### Output

```json
{
  "store": "Coles",
  "productId": 1748773,
  "name": "High Protein Kefir Strawberry",
  "brand": "Babushka",
  "size": "500g",
  "price": 5.5,
  "wasPrice": 6.9,
  "saveAmount": 1.4,
  "isSpecial": true,
  "promotionType": "SPECIAL",
  "unitPrice": 1.1,
  "unitMeasure": "100g",
  "comparablePrice": "$1.10/ 100g",
  "inStock": true,
  "availabilityType": "InStoreAndOnline",
  "category": "Yoghurt",
  "subCategory": "Dairy, Eggs & Fridge",
  "url": "https://www.coles.com.au/product/high-protein-kefir-strawberry-1748773",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-02T11:00:00+00:00"
}
```

### Price

**$4.00 per 1,000 products** ($0.004 each), charged per product
returned. Nothing else is charged: no per-run fee, no charge for
pages that return nothing, and a product with no price is skipped
rather than billed. Duplicates across pages are returned once.

### Limits, honestly

- **Coles only.** Woolworths and Aldi are not covered.
- **Prices are the national online prices** Coles shows a
  logged-out visitor. They are not store-specific, and they do not
  include a loyalty or member price, because that needs an account
  and this Actor never signs in.
- **Currency is AUD**, always.
- **Up to 40 pages per target** (about 1,900 products). For a whole
  category, split it into sub-categories.
- **Coles blocks some data-centre IPs.** Apify Proxy is on by
  default. If a run reports pages blocked, switch the proxy to the
  RESIDENTIAL group, country AU.
- **A listing page is not a product page.** Nutrition panels,
  ingredients and per-store stock are not returned.

### What it will not do

No login, no loyalty or member pricing, no CAPTCHA solving, no
personal data, and no faster-than-polite request rate.

### Support

Open an issue on this Actor's **Issues** tab. Reported issues are
fixed within 14 days.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

What to search on coles.com.au, e.g. "milk", "gluten free bread", "Cadbury". Each term is searched separately and paged until maxResults is reached.

## `categoryUrls` (type: `array`):

Coles listing URLs to read, e.g. https://www.coles.com.au/browse/dairy-eggs-fridge/milk or https://www.coles.com.au/on-special. Must be on coles.com.au. Paging is added for you.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop each search term or URL after this many unique products. Each product returned is one billed result. Coles serves 48 products a page.

## `specialsOnly` (type: `boolean`):

On: return only products Coles marks as on special or with a was-price. Searches also ask Coles for its specials filter.

## `inStockOnly` (type: `boolean`):

On: skip products Coles reports as unavailable. Products with no price are always skipped and never billed.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Timeout for one page request. Failed requests are retried with a new proxy session.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy is used by default. Coles blocks some data-centre IPs; if pages come back blocked, choose the RESIDENTIAL group with country AU.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": [
    "milk"
  ],
  "maxResults": 100,
  "specialsOnly": false,
  "inStockOnly": false,
  "requestTimeoutSecs": 30,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `products` (type: `string`):

Every product found, one item each, as JSON from the run's default dataset.

## `overview` (type: `string`):

The same products in the dataset's overview view: photo, name, brand, size, price, was-price, unit price, special, stock and link.
