## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Walmart Products Scraper

Get Walmart US product data from walmart.com: price, was-price, unit
price, stock, seller, rating, review count, category, UPC, model,
image and description. Give item ids, product URLs, search URLs or
search terms. Get one row per product.

**Price: $4.00 per 1,000 products.** You pay per product saved. A
product that Walmart refuses or does not show costs nothing.

### What it does

- **Product URLs and item ids.** Each one is read from its product
  page.
- **Search URLs and search terms.** The Actor reads the list in
  Walmart's order, up to your cap, then opens each product's page for
  the full row. Turn `includeDetails` off to keep only what the list
  page shows: name, price, stock, seller, rating, review count and
  image. That is faster.
- **No browser and no login.** It reads the public pages a
  logged-out shopper sees.
- **It routes itself.** Walmart answers Apify's own IP with a "Robot
  or human?" page. So the Actor sends each page through Apify Proxy,
  data-centre first and residential second, with a fresh IP on each
  try. The proxy cost is ours, not yours. The Actor never answers a
  challenge. When an IP is refused, the next try takes another IP.

### Input

The input names match the largest Walmart detail scraper on the
Store, so a saved input works here unchanged.

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {"url": "https://www.walmart.com/search?q=paper+towels"},
    {"url": "https://www.walmart.com/ip/8886020987"}
  ],
  "maxProductsPerStartUrl": 10
}
```

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `startUrls` | walmart.com product (`/ip/`) or search (`/search?q=`) pages |
| `productIds` | item ids, the number at the end of a product URL, or the URLs |
| `searchTerms` | words to search for, as in Walmart's search box |
| `maxProductsPerStartUrl` | the most products from each search URL or term; default 40 |
| `includeDetails` | on (default): open each product's page; off: list fields only |
| `proxyConfiguration` | leave off; set your own proxy only to replace ours |

### Output

One item per product, from a test run on 2026-10-04:

```json
{
  "itemId": "8886020987",
  "url": "https://www.walmart.com/ip/Scott-Paper-Towels-Choose-A-Sheet-6-Double-Rolls/8886020987",
  "name": "Scott Paper Towels, Choose-A-Sheet, 6 Double Rolls",
  "brand": "Scott",
  "price": 6.84,
  "priceText": "$6.84",
  "currency": "USD",
  "wasPrice": null,
  "unitPrice": "$1.06/100 ct",
  "availability": "IN_STOCK",
  "inStock": true,
  "sellerName": "Walmart.com",
  "soldByWalmart": true,
  "rating": 4.6,
  "reviewCount": 66976,
  "imageUrl": "https://i5.walmartimages.com/seo/Scott-Paper-Towels-Choose-A-Sheet-6-Double-Rolls_10ab20cc-d654-4bff-87d8-e56d4b0f4497.34e50c5d67c21a95e50b5282299aa2fc.jpeg",
  "category": "Household Essentials > Paper & Plastic > Paper Towels > All Paper Towels",
  "upc": "054000566677",
  "model": "56667",
  "description": "Each Scott Choose-A-Sheet Paper Towel Roll comes with 108 sheets per roll ...",
  "pricedFor": {"postalCode": "95829", "storeId": "3081", "city": "Sacramento", "stateOrProvinceCode": "CA"},
  "dataFrom": "product page",
  "source": "https://www.walmart.com/search?q=paper+towels",
  "position": 3,
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-04T20:41:10Z"
}
```

- `dataFrom` is `product page`, or `list page` when only the list
  was read.
- `source` is the start URL or search term the product came from,
  or `itemId`. `position` is its rank in that list.
- `pricedFor` is the postal code and store the page says it priced
  for. Most pages price for Walmart's default, Sacramento 95829,
  store 3081. Walmart picks the location from the request, and the
  price can differ by location: on 2026-10-04 one item read $16.97
  from one IP and $17.82 at the default store. Compare prices only
  between rows with the same `pricedFor`.

### Measured

Across six test deploys on Apify, 2026-10-03 and 2026-10-04:

- **Product pages:** 65 of 65 answered on the first try.
- **Search pages:** 5 of 5 searches read, 12 tries in all. Walmart
  answers some IPs with a "Robot or human?" page, and the Actor moves
  to a new IP. On an occasional day it refuses a search on every try;
  the run then says so in its status message instead of guessing.
- **Category pages (`/browse/`):** 0 of 10 tries answered. A
  category URL is accepted, but expect it to be refused. Use a search
  URL or a search term instead.
- **Speed:** one search and 10 products in under a minute.

### Limits

- walmart.com (US) only. Not walmart.ca or walmart.com.mx.
- You cannot choose the store or ZIP code yet.
- One row per item id. Variants of a product (sizes, colours) are
  not opened.
- Walmart lists at most 25 pages of about 40 products for a search.
- The run's status message counts every reply by route, so a refused
  run explains itself.

### What it will not do

No reviews and no reviewer names. Of the seller, only the storefront
name Walmart prints on the page. No login, no Walmart+ prices, no
CAPTCHA solving.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

walmart.com pages to read: product pages (/ip/...) or search pages (/search?q=...). Each product found becomes one row. Category pages (/browse/...) are accepted, but Walmart refused them on every try in our tests; use a search URL instead.

## `productIds` (type: `array`):

Walmart item ids, the number at the end of a walmart.com/ip/ URL, or the product URLs themselves. One row per item.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Words to search walmart.com for, as in its search box. Each term is read like a search URL.

## `maxProductsPerStartUrl` (type: `integer`):

The most products to take from each search URL, category URL or search term, in the order Walmart lists them. A page holds about 40. Product URLs and item ids are not capped.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

On: every product from a search or category is read from its own page, adding UPC, model, category path, description and seller. Off: rows carry only what the list page shows (name, price, stock, rating), and the run is faster.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Leave off: the Actor routes through Apify Proxy itself, at no extra cost to you. Set your own proxy here only to replace that route.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.walmart.com/search?q=paper+towels"
    },
    {
      "url": "https://www.walmart.com/ip/8886020987"
    },
    {
      "url": "https://www.walmart.com/ip/5308263928"
    }
  ],
  "maxProductsPerStartUrl": 10,
  "includeDetails": true,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `products` (type: `string`):

Every product found, one item each, as JSON from the run's default dataset.

## `overview` (type: `string`):

The same products in the dataset's overview view: name, brand, price, was-price, stock, seller, rating, reviews, item id and URL.
