## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TikTok Daily Posts Monitor — new posts per profile

Point it at a list of TikTok profiles, run it on a schedule, and get every post they published in
the last day or two with full data: caption, exact timestamp, views, likes, comments, shares,
saves, cover image, playable video address, hashtags, music, and the creator's follower count.

No login. No account. **No proxy required** — which is most of why it is cheap enough to run
hourly across a long watchlist.

### The thing no other TikTok scraper tells you

Every post-collection tool silently returns *some* of a busy day. This one tells you when that
happened. Each profile comes back with a verdict:

| `windowCovered` | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `true` | The profile's public posts reach back past the start of your period, so nothing inside it was missed. |
| `false` | The profile published more in the period than its public profile exposes. Some posts are missing — **run more often** to catch them. |

If you are monitoring news accounts, that single flag is the difference between a dataset you can
trust and one you merely hope is complete.

### What it is built for, and what it is not

**Built for:** watching a set of profiles continuously — hourly, daily — and collecting what is
new. Cheap per run, so frequent runs are the point.

**Not built for:** pulling a creator's back catalogue. TikTok's public profile exposes only its
most recent posts, so a request for "the last 6 months" cannot be satisfied from a profile by
anyone, and this Actor says so rather than returning a quiet fraction. If you already hold the
post links, **TikTok Post Data** reads posts of any age, including years back.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| **TikTok profiles** | list | One per line: `https://www.tiktok.com/@name`, `@name`, or `name`. Required. |
| Look back (days) | integer | Default `2`. This Actor is built for 1–2 days; longer periods will often report `windowCovered: false`. |
| Max posts per profile | integer | `0` = everything inside the period. |
| Posts in parallel | integer | Default `4`. |

```json
{
  "profiles": ["https://www.tiktok.com/@bbcnews", "@cnn", "aljazeera"],
  "lookbackDays": 2
}
```

### Output

One row per post, plus a `SUMMARY` record with the per-profile verdict.

```json
{
  "id": "7690902917741726979",
  "webVideoUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/@bbcnews/video/7690902917741726979",
  "createTimeISO": "2026-09-29T10:31:06.000Z",
  "text": "The US Navy said the ship went through a \"rigorous\" cleaning…",
  "playCount": 837900, "diggCount": 43100, "commentCount": 1220,
  "shareCount": 1320, "collectCount": 2210,
  "isPhotoPost": false, "isPinned": false,
  "videoMeta": { "coverUrl": "…", "duration": 38, "downloadAddr": "…" },
  "authorMeta": { "name": "bbcnews", "followers": 16400000, "hearts": 412000000 }
}
```

```json
{ "profiles": 3, "postsReturned": 21,
  "profilesWithIncompleteWindow": ["aljazeera"],
  "perProfile": [
    { "handle": "bbcnews", "postsReturned": 9, "followers": 16400000, "windowCovered": true,  "status": "covered" },
    { "handle": "aljazeera", "postsReturned": 12, "followers": 5200000, "windowCovered": false, "status": "incomplete_window" }
  ] }
```

### Pricing

Pay per event, two of them:

- **per post returned** — the posts you actually get.
- **a small per-profile check** — because looking at a profile that posted nothing is still work.
  A quiet watchlist therefore costs very little, and a busy one scales with what it gives you.

Profiles that cannot be read are reported as free rows and never charged.

### Limits, stated plainly

- **A profile exposes only its most recent posts.** For a typical creator that covers a day or
  more comfortably; for a very busy news account a 2-day window may not fit, and you will be told
  via `windowCovered: false`.
- **Deleted, private and region-restricted posts cannot be read** by anything without an account.
- **Accounts that no longer exist** are reported as `account_unavailable` rather than as an empty
  result, so a stale watchlist is visible instead of silently shrinking.
- **Video addresses are signed by TikTok and expire** within hours — download promptly if you
  need the file.
- **Comments are not included**; that is a different Actor.

### FAQ

**How often should I run it?**
Whatever your appetite for freshness: every few hours is a good default for news accounts, daily
for slower ones. If a profile keeps reporting `windowCovered: false`, run it more often or shorten
the look-back.

**Will it return the same post twice across runs?**
Yes, if the post is still inside your look-back window — deduplicate on `id`. That is deliberate:
re-reading a post also refreshes its view and like counts.

**Do I need a proxy?**
No.

**Can I get a creator's older posts?**
Not from a profile — see the limits above. Use **TikTok Post Data** with the post links if you
have them.

# Actor input Schema

## `profiles` (type: `array`):

One profile per line - a profile URL (https://www.tiktok.com/@name), @name, or just name.

## `lookbackDays` (type: `integer`):

Return posts published within this many days. 1-2 days is what this Actor is built for; longer periods may exceed what a profile exposes, and each profile then reports windowCovered=false.

## `maxPostsPerProfile` (type: `integer`):

0 = every post found inside the period.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many posts to read at once. 4 is a good default.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "profiles": [
    "https://www.tiktok.com/@bbcnews",
    "@cnn"
  ],
  "lookbackDays": 2,
  "maxPostsPerProfile": 0,
  "concurrency": 4
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `posts` (type: `string`):

One item per post inside the period: id, URL, caption, timestamp, views, likes, comments, shares, saves, cover, video address, hashtags, music, photo-post flag, pinned flag and author stats.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Per profile: posts returned, follower count, and windowCovered - false means the profile published more in the period than its public profile exposes, so run more often to catch everything.
