## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TikTok Post Data — full metadata by URL or ID

You already know which posts you care about. This Actor turns that list into data.

Give it TikTok post links, bare post ids, or short `vm.tiktok.com` links — mixed together, in any
order — and get one row per post: caption, exact timestamp, views, likes, comments, shares, saves,
cover image, playable video address, duration, hashtags, music, whether it is a photo slideshow,
and the creator's follower and total-likes counts.

No login. No account. **No proxy required.**

### What this does that profile scrapers don't

- **Any post age.** A post from 2020 returns exactly as completely as one from this morning.
  Profile scrapers read from the top of a profile and stop; if you already have the link, age is
  irrelevant here.
- **A bare post id is enough.** `7690868110672284950` works on its own — you do not need to know
  which creator posted it. Useful when your ids came from a CSV, an export, or another tool.
- **Photo posts (slideshows) are included** and flagged with `isPhotoPost`, not skipped.
- **Re-run it to refresh numbers.** Views, likes and shares are read live, so running the same
  list a week later gives you the new figures — which is how you track how a post performed over
  time.
- **You are never charged for a post TikTok won't serve.** Deleted, private and region-blocked
  posts come back as free error rows that say which it was.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| **Post URLs or IDs** | list | One post per line. Full links (`/video/…` or `/photo/…`), bare ids, or `vm.`/`vt.tiktok.com` short links. Required. |
| Maximum posts | integer | Stop after this many inputs. `0` = all of them. |
| Posts in parallel | integer | Default `5`. Raise for long lists; lower it if posts start failing. |
| Proxy | object | Optional, and off by default — this Actor does not need one. |

```json
{
  "postUrls": [
    "https://www.tiktok.com/@bbcnews/video/7690902917741726979",
    "https://www.tiktok.com/@qudsn/video/6882749214040935681",
    "7690868110672284950"
  ],
  "concurrency": 5
}
```

### Output

One row per post. Real sample, trimmed:

```json
{
  "id": "6882749214040935681",
  "webVideoUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/@qudsn/video/6882749214040935681",
  "createTimeISO": "2020-10-12T14:08:11.000Z",
  "createTime": 1602511691,
  "text": "رسالة حاج أردني من الكرك حول التطبيع …",
  "playCount": 33700,
  "diggCount": 1430,
  "commentCount": 65,
  "shareCount": 219,
  "collectCount": 84,
  "isPhotoPost": false,
  "hashtags": ["شاهد", "الأردن"],
  "videoMeta": {
    "coverUrl": "https://p16-common-sign.tiktokcdn.com/…",
    "originalCoverUrl": "https://p16-common-sign.tiktokcdn.com/…",
    "duration": 41,
    "downloadAddr": "https://v16m.tiktokcdn.com/…"
  },
  "musicMeta": { "playUrl": "…", "musicName": "original sound", "musicAuthor": "qudsn" },
  "authorMeta": {
    "name": "qudsn", "nickName": "قدس نيوز", "id": "6595249335095607301",
    "followers": 919500, "hearts": 12900000, "videos": 11900
  }
}
```

A post that cannot be read produces a free row instead:

```json
{ "input": "https://www.tiktok.com/@name/video/1234567890123456789",
  "id": "1234567890123456789",
  "error": "unavailable:10204",
  "errorDescription": "TikTok does not serve this post - it is deleted, private or region-restricted." }
```

The run also writes a `SUMMARY` record: posts requested, returned, unavailable, unreadable.

### Pricing

Pay per event. **You are charged once per post returned** — never for an input that failed, and
never for the error rows. A small Actor-start event covers the first seconds of compute on each
run, as Apify's default.

### Limits, stated plainly

- **This Actor does not discover posts.** It reads posts you already identify. If you need to
  find a creator's posts first, use a TikTok profile or hashtag scraper, then feed the URLs here.
- **Deleted, private and region-restricted posts cannot be read** by anything without an account,
  and they are reported rather than guessed at. They are free.
- **Video addresses are signed by TikTok and expire** within hours. Download promptly if you need
  the file; the cover image URLs are longer-lived but not permanent either.
- **Comments are not included.** That is a different job and a different Actor.
- Very long lists are read in parallel but politely; a list of thousands will take minutes, not
  seconds, and that pacing is deliberate — it is why the success rate stays high without a proxy.

### FAQ

**Where do I get the post URLs?**
Anywhere: a spreadsheet, a media-monitoring export, a profile or hashtag scraper, or links people
sent you. Bare ids work too.

**Can I use it to track a post over time?**
Yes — that is a common use. Run the same list on a schedule and each run returns the current
view, like, comment and share counts, so you can see how a post accumulated them.

**Do I need a proxy?**
No. Leave the proxy field alone. The option exists only for accounts whose network needs one.

**What happens with a link that isn't a TikTok post?**
It is reported as `not_a_tiktok_post` in a free row, and the rest of your list still runs.

**Does it work on `/photo/` slideshow posts?**
Yes, including their cover images. `isPhotoPost` tells you which rows are slideshows; those have
no video file, so `downloadAddr` is empty for them.

# Actor input Schema

## `postUrls` (type: `array`):

One TikTok post per line. Accepts full links (https://www.tiktok.com/@name/video/7123... and /photo/ links), bare post ids (7123...), and vm.tiktok.com / vt.tiktok.com short links, mixed freely. A bare id works without knowing the creator.

## `maxPosts` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many inputs. 0 means read every post given.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many posts to read at once. 5 is a good default; raise it for large lists, lower it if you see posts failing.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not required - this Actor works without a proxy. Add one only if your account or region needs it.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "postUrls": [
    "https://www.tiktok.com/@bbcnews/video/7690902917741726979"
  ],
  "maxPosts": 0,
  "concurrency": 5,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `posts` (type: `string`):

One item per post: id, URL, caption, timestamp, views, likes, comments, shares, saves, cover image, playable video address, duration, hashtags, music, photo-post flag and author stats. Posts TikTok would not serve appear as error rows and are not charged.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Posts requested, returned, unavailable and unreadable.
