## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

![50/50 Women on Boards Scraper](https://i.ibb.co/DPVmz1pj/5050wob-banner.png)

**50/50 Women on Boards Scraper** extracts companies from the 50/50 Women on Boards Gender Diversity Index into clean, structured data you can download as JSON, CSV, Excel, or HTML. Paste a directory URL or type a company name, and get the board size, number and percentage of women directors, 50/50 rating, sector, industry, stock exchange, ticker, headquarters address, and website for every company. No account or login required.

### Introduction

[50/50 Women on Boards](https://5050wob.org/) is a nonprofit campaign for gender-balanced corporate boards. Its Gender Diversity Index tracks the board composition of roughly 2,850 public companies, mostly listed in the United States, and rates each one by how many women sit on its board of directors.

This actor collects the same public information you see in the online directory and turns it into a ready-to-use dataset. You can run it once, schedule it to run regularly, or connect it to your own tools.

### What data can you extract from 50/50 Women on Boards?

- 🏢 Company name, stock ticker, and stock exchange
- ⭐ 50/50 rating (for example GB for a gender-balanced board, 3+, 2, 1, or 0)
- 👥 Number of board members and number of women on the board
- 📊 Percentage of board seats held by women
- 🏭 Sector and industry
- 📍 Headquarters address, city, state, and country
- 🌐 Company website
- 🔗 Direct link to the company in the directory

### Use Cases

- 📈 **ESG and diversity research**: compare board gender diversity across sectors, states, and exchanges.
- 💼 **Investment screening**: find companies that meet your board diversity criteria before you invest.
- 🤝 **Board recruiting and lead generation**: build lists of companies with few women directors to approach with candidates or services.
- 📰 **Journalism and reports**: back up articles and studies with company-level board data.
- 🤖 **AI and automation**: feed clean, structured data into spreadsheets, dashboards, or AI workflows.

### How to scrape 50/50 Women on Boards step by step

1. Paste one or more directory URLs into **Start URLs**, or type company names into **Search queries**.
2. Optionally pick filters such as **Sector**, **State**, or **50/50 rating** for your search queries.
3. Set **Maximum number of results** to how many companies you want per URL or per query.
4. Click **Start** and wait for the run to finish.
5. Download your data in JSON, CSV, Excel, or HTML from the **Output** tab.

### Input

- **Start URLs**: 50/50 Women on Boards directory URLs, for example `https://5050wob.org/directory/?sector=Technology`. Any filters you apply in the directory search form (company name, ticker, city, sector, state, exchange, rating, number of women, % of women, board members) are kept in the results. Older 5050wob.com directory links also work.
- **Search queries**: company names to search in the directory, one per line. Each query is scraped separately.
- **Maximum number of results**: how many companies to collect for each start URL or search query.
- **Sector**, **State**, **City**, **Exchange**, **50/50 rating**: only keep companies that match these values.
- **Minimum women on board**, **Minimum % of women on board**, **Minimum board members**: only keep companies that reach these numbers.

The filters apply to search queries only. Start URLs keep the filters already in the URL. You can use start URLs, search queries, or both in the same run.

### Input Examples

Scrape all Technology companies from the directory:

```json
{
  "startUrls": [{ "url": "https://5050wob.org/directory/?sector=Technology" }],
  "maxResults": 5
}
```

Search by company name:

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["bank"],
  "maxResults": 5
}
```

### Output

Each company is saved as one item in the dataset. Here is an example of a single item:

```json
{
  "url": "https://5050wob.org/directory/?ticker=ADBE",
  "companyName": "Adobe Inc.",
  "ticker": "ADBE",
  "exchange": "NASDAQ",
  "rating": "5",
  "boardMembers": 11,
  "womenOnBoard": 4,
  "womenPercentage": 36.4,
  "sector": "Technology",
  "industry": "Software—Infrastructure",
  "address": "345 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA, 95110, UNITED STATES",
  "city": "San Jose",
  "state": "CA",
  "country": "United States",
  "website": "https://www.adobe.com/"
}
```

You can download the dataset in JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, or HTML, or access it through the Apify API.

### Notes

- Only directory pages are supported. Other pages of the website are skipped.
- The **Minimum women on board**, **Minimum % of women on board**, and **Minimum board members** filters work as "at least", the same as the directory search form.
- The industry is only listed for a small number of companies, so it is usually `null`.
- The country is taken from the end of the address and is `null` when the address ends with a postal code.
- A few large companies appear twice in the directory with different figures. Both rows are kept exactly as the website shows them.
- Results follow the directory order, which is alphabetical by company name.

### Why use the 50/50 Women on Boards Scraper?

- ✅ **No login needed**: works with public data only, so there is no account to manage.
- 🎯 **Keeps your filters**: paste any filtered directory URL and get exactly the companies you see there.
- 🧹 **Clean data**: board counts and percentages are real numbers, ready for charts and spreadsheets.
- 💸 **Pay for what you need**: set a result limit per URL or query and keep every run small and cheap.
- 🔄 **Ready for automation**: schedule runs, export to Google Sheets, or connect to Make, Zapier, and n8n.

### FAQ

No. The actor only collects publicly available data. You do not need to log in or provide any account details.

#### Can I scrape data on a schedule?
