## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Google Maps Business Posts Scraper

**Google Maps Business Posts Scraper** extracts the posts that businesses publish on their Google Business Profile (updates, offers and events) from [Google Maps](https://www.google.com/maps) into clean, structured data you can download as JSON, CSV, Excel, or HTML. Paste Google Maps place links or type a search such as "nail salon in Austin, TX", and get the post text, images, publish date, offer dates and terms, call-to-action button and business details for every post. No account or login required.

### Introduction

[Google Maps](https://www.google.com/maps) is the most used map and local business directory in the world. Business owners publish posts on their Google Business Profile to announce news, promotions, events and seasonal offers, and these posts appear on their Google Maps listing as "From the owner" and "Latest posts".

This actor collects the same public posts you see in your browser and turns them into a ready-to-use dataset. You can run it once, schedule it to run daily, or connect it to your own tools.

### What data can you extract from Google Maps business posts?

- 📝 Post text, title and type (update, offer or event)
- 📅 Publish date, the date as shown on Google Maps, and the date the post expires
- 🎟️ Offer and event dates, coupon code, redeem link and terms
- 👆 Call-to-action button label and link (Call now, Book, Learn more, View Offer)
- 🖼️ Post images
- 🏢 Business name, address, categories, rating, number of reviews and website
- 🔗 Direct link to each post, the Google Maps place link, place ID and CID

### Use Cases

- 🕵️ **Competitor monitoring**: see which promotions, events and offers local competitors publish, and how often.
- 📈 **Local SEO audits**: check how active a business or a whole market is on Google Business Profile posts.
- 🏬 **Multi-location brands**: compare posting activity across franchise or chain locations.
- 🤝 **Lead generation**: find businesses that do not post at all, or that post a lot, and offer them marketing services.
- 🤖 **AI and automation**: feed clean, structured posts into spreadsheets, dashboards, or AI workflows.

### How to scrape Google Maps business posts step by step

1. Paste one or more Google Maps place links or search links into **Google Maps URLs**, or type searches into **Search queries**.
2. Set **Max posts per business** to how many posts you want from each business, and **Max businesses per search** for searches.
3. Optionally set **Posted after** to only get recent posts.
4. Click **Start** and wait for the run to finish.
5. Download your data in JSON, CSV, Excel, or HTML from the **Output** tab.

### Input

- **Google Maps URLs**: links to Google Maps places (full place links, maps.app.goo.gl short links, links with a CID or place ID) or to Google Maps searches (for example https://www.google.com/maps/search/coffee+in+Seattle). A search link collects posts from the businesses it lists.
- **Search queries**: Google Maps searches such as "nail salon in Austin, TX" or "car dealership Miami", one per line. Posts are collected from the businesses each search returns.
- **Max posts per business**: how many posts to save for each business, newest first. Set 0 to save every available post.
- **Max businesses per search**: how many businesses to take from each search query or search link. Set 0 for every business the search returns.
- **Posted after**: only save posts published on or after this date. Use a date (2026-01-31) or a period such as 30 days or 3 months.

You can use Google Maps URLs, search queries, or both in the same run.

### Input Examples

Scrape the posts of two businesses:

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    { "url": "https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJJUziqFGzRIYRdEdlmu4Wm08" },
    { "url": "https://www.google.com/maps?cid=1841272287614970213" }
  ],
  "maxResults": 5,
  "maxPlacesPerSearch": 10
}
```

Collect the posts of businesses from a Google Maps search, only from the last 30 days:

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["nail salon in Austin, TX"],
  "maxResults": 5,
  "maxPlacesPerSearch": 10,
  "postedAfter": "30 days"
}
```

### Output

Each post is saved as one item in the dataset. Here is an example of a single item:

```json
{
  "url": "https://search.google.com/local/posts?q=MILANO+NAIL+SPA+AUSTIN+%7C+Best+Nail+Salon+in+Austin+Texas&ludocid=1841272287614970213&lpsid=CIHM0ogKELTa4J7Z1uHkXA&source=sh/x/loc/post&lsig=AB86z5UcPAW1-WotsXYwTrMcSPiw",
  "postId": "7315448487368379309",
  "type": "Update",
  "startDate": null,
  "endDate": null,
  "scheduleText": null,
  "couponCode": null,
  "redeemUrl": null,
    "https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/geougc/AF1QipNwj4sRtfJBJpUojjDbDRPVYjHIFnRJNdg2AtNT=h400-no"
  ],
  "businessName": "MILANO NAIL SPA AUSTIN | Best Nail Salon in Austin Texas",
  "placeId": "ChIJY5A5XcC1RIYRZakP3mODjRk",
  "cid": "1841272287614970213",
}
```

Offers also fill `startDate`, `endDate`, `scheduleText` (for example "Valid Aug 27 - Sep 30") and, when the business added them, `couponCode`, `redeemUrl` and `terms`. Events fill `title`, `startDate`, `endDate` and `scheduleText`.

You can download the dataset in JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, or HTML, or access it through the Apify API.

### Notes

- Only posts published by the business owner are collected. Photos and videos shared by customers are not business posts and are not included.
- Many businesses never publish posts. They are processed normally and simply return no items.
- Posts are returned newest first. With **Posted after**, the actor stops at the first older post of each business.
- A business found by several links or searches in the same run is scraped only once.
- Labels and relative dates (such as "18 hours ago") are in English; the post text stays in the language the business wrote it in.
- Links that do not point to a Google Maps place or search are skipped.

### Why use the Google Maps Business Posts Scraper?

- ✅ **No login needed**: works with public data only, so there is no account to manage.
- 🌍 **Any country**: works with businesses anywhere Google Maps is available.
- 🔎 **Searches with many businesses**: collect posts from dozens of businesses in one search, not just the first page.
- 🧹 **Clean data**: dates use one standard format, ratings are real numbers, and offers come with their dates and terms.
- 💸 **Pay for what you need**: limit posts per business and businesses per search to keep every run small and cheap.
- 🔄 **Ready for automation**: schedule runs, export to Google Sheets, or connect to Make, Zapier, and n8n.

### FAQ

#### How many posts can I scrape?

Set **Max posts per business** to any number, or 0 for every post Google Maps shows for that business. The actor keeps going until it reaches your limit or runs out of posts.

#### Do I need a Google account?

No. The actor only collects publicly available posts. You do not need to log in or provide any account details.

#### Can I track new posts on a schedule?

Yes. Use Apify Schedules to run the actor every day or week with **Posted after** set to a short period such as 7 days, and get only the latest posts.

#### Why are some fields empty?

Not every post has a title, images, a button, or offer terms. When a field is not available on Google Maps, it is returned as `null`.

#### Can I request a new feature or filter?

Yes. Right now the actor supports Google Maps links, search queries and a date filter. If you need other filters or inputs, such as language or a minimum rating, get in touch and they can be added.

#### Can I get a custom or private version?

Yes. The actor can be customized for your workflow, delivered as a private version, or a new scraper can be built for a different website. Use the contact details below.
