## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Bluesky Profile Scraper: Profiles, Follower Counts & Posts

Scrape Bluesky profiles and their latest posts: name, bio, follower, following and post counts, verification, pinned post, plus each post with likes, reposts, replies, hashtags, links and media. Find profiles by keyword. No login. $1 per 1,000 profiles, $0.40 per 1,000 posts.

**A Bluesky profile scraper that needs no account.** Give it **handles or profile URLs** (or **keywords** to find profiles), and get one clean row per profile: **handle, display name, bio, followers, following and post counts**, lists, feeds and starter packs, **verification**, avatar and banner, account creation date and the pinned post. Each profile is followed by its **latest posts**: text, **likes, reposts, replies, quotes and bookmarks**, hashtags, links, mentions, images and video, quoted post, link card, language, and reply and repost flags. You can filter by post type and date. Use it for **influencer and creator research**, brand and competitor monitoring, **audience-size tracking** over time, journalism and academic research, and building lists of accounts in a niche. It reads Bluesky's official public AppView API, the same one the Bluesky web app uses for logged-out visitors. **$1 per 1,000 profiles and $0.40 per 1,000 posts**, with no compute bill on top; problems return a free status row instead of failing. Need keyword search across all posts instead? Use our Bluesky Posts Search.

### What data does it return?

Every run outputs clean, schema-validated rows like these:

| type | handle | displayName | followersCount | postsCount | verified | authorHandle | text | likeCount | repostCount |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| profile | bsky.app | Bluesky | 35356319 | 896 | true | | | | |
| post | | | | | | bsky.app | v1.136 is live! Introducing: Profile links… | 5098 | 1434 |
| profile | uahirise.bsky.social | HiRISE Beautiful Mars (NASA) | 18649 | 1828 | false | | | | |

### How much does it cost?

Transparent pay-per-event pricing — you only pay for what you get, and the
actor **always respects your run budget**: set a maximum total charge and it
stops cleanly at the cap instead of overrunning.

| Event | Price | Charged | Worked example |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `profile` | $0.001 | per profile row | 1,000 profiles = $1.00 |
| `post` | $0.0004 | per post row | 1,000 posts = $0.40 |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.00005 | per run per GB of memory (platform start fee) | One run at 256 MB = $0.00005 |

### Input options

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `handles` | array | no | — | Handles (bsky.app, nytimes.com, jay.bsky.team), @handles, DIDs or bsky.app/profile/... URLs. A bare name like "alice" is read as alice.bsky.social. |
| `searchTerms` | array | no | — | Optional: search Bluesky's profile directory (names, handles and bios), e.g. journalist, nasa, indie game dev. Matching profiles are scraped like the handles above. |
| `maxProfilesPerSearch` | integer | no | `25` | How many profiles to take from each keyword search. |
| `maxPostsPerProfile` | integer | no | `20` | Latest posts to return for each profile (newest first; a pinned post comes first). 0 returns profiles only. |
| `feedFilter` | string | no | `"posts_no_replies"` | Posts only, posts and replies, posts with media, or posts plus the threads the author started. |
| `includeReposts` | boolean | no | `false` | Also return posts by other accounts that the profile reposted (marked isRepost, with repostedBy). |
| `postedAfter` | string | no | — | Optional date (YYYY-MM-DD). Paging stops at the first older post. |
| `maxItems` | integer | no | `1000` | Upper limit on profile + post rows for the whole run. |

### Limits & honest notes

- **Responsible use:** posts and bios are personal content. Use the data in line with Bluesky's terms and community guidelines and with data-protection law (GDPR/UK GDPR/CCPA), for example for research, monitoring and analytics, not for spam or harassment. This actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Bluesky Social PBC.
- It uses only the keyless public AppView API (public.api.bsky.app, whose robots.txt allows everything), one request at a time with at least 0.25 s between requests and an honest user agent (ActorForge-BlueskyProfiles). There is no login, no cookies and no proxies.
- Accounts that ask not to be shown to logged-out visitors (the `!no-unauthenticated` label) are skipped, together with their posts. E-mail addresses and phone numbers are removed from bios. Follower and following lists are not collected; only the counts are.
- Profile keyword search matches names, handles and bios (Bluesky's own directory search). It does not search post text; our Bluesky Posts Search does that.
- If Bluesky answers with a block or rate limit, the run stops, keeps the rows already delivered and adds a free status row. Respects your run budget: set a maximum total charge and the run stops cleanly at the cap. Unknown or deleted handles return a free status row.
