## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## E-commerce Product Scraper — Any Store URL, Price & Stock

Scrape product data from any store URL: name, brand, SKU, GTIN, price, sale price, currency, stock, variants, images and rating, from schema.org JSON-LD, microdata, OpenGraph and Shopify/WooCommerce fast paths. Price monitoring with change alerts. $2 per 1,000 products.

**An e-commerce scraper for product data from any store.** Give it product page URLs from independent and direct-to-consumer shops, on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, Shopware, Wix, Squarespace or a custom site, and you get one clean row per product: **name, brand, SKU, GTIN/MPN, price, sale price and regular price, currency, stock status, variants** (size, colour, SKU, price and stock for each), images, description, category, aggregate rating and review count, and the seller. This **product scraper** reads the structured data stores publish for Google Shopping. It tries schema.org **JSON-LD** first (including @graph, offers arrays, AggregateOffer and ProductGroup variants), then **microdata**, then the store's public product JSON (Shopify's /products/{handle}.js and the WooCommerce Store API), and finally **OpenGraph** product tags. Each row says which platform was detected and where the price came from. It does not need per-site selectors. For **price monitoring**, set a `monitorName` and schedule the run: every row gets a `changed` object (new product, price changed, stock changed, previous values), and `onlyChanges` outputs and charges only the products that changed. Turn on `discover` to start from a category page, a homepage or a sitemap.xml instead of product URLs. It uses plain HTTP at 512 MB with an honest user agent, the store's own robots.txt and at most 2 requests at a time per store. **$2 per 1,000 products**, which is a third of the big e-commerce tools. Blocked, disallowed and non-product pages are free. **Built for the long tail, not Amazon**: it uses no proxies, unblockers or CAPTCHA solving, so Amazon, Walmart and other heavily protected retailers will mostly come back as free `blocked` rows.

### What data does it return?

Every run outputs clean, schema-validated rows like these:

| platform | name | brand | price | currency | availability | variantCount | ratingValue | reviewCount | priceSource |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| shopify | Men's Tree Runner | Allbirds | 100 | USD | in_stock | 7 | 4.6 | 9951 | json-ld |
| woocommerce | Organic Diestel Whole Turkey 12 – 14lb | | 115 | USD | out_of_stock | 0 | | 0 | woocommerce-store-api |
| bigcommerce | Orbit Terrarium (Large) | OFS | 109 | CAD | in_stock | 0 | 4 | 1 | json-ld |
| unknown | Nokia 123 | | 24.99 | USD | | 0 | | 11 | microdata |

### How much does it cost?

Transparent pay-per-event pricing — you only pay for what you get, and the
actor **always respects your run budget**: set a maximum total charge and it
stops cleanly at the cap instead of overrunning.

| Event | Price | Charged | Worked example |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `product-result` | $0.002 | per product row delivered (a page where a product was found, with variants and images) | 1,000 product URLs = $2; in monitor mode with onlyChanges, unchanged products are skipped and cost nothing |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.00005 | per run per GB of memory (platform start fee) | One run at 512 MB = $0.000025 |

### Input options

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `urls` | array | no | — | Product page URLs from any store (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, Shopware, Wix, Squarespace or a custom site). With discover on, you can also give category pages, a homepage or sitemap.xml URLs. Duplicates and tracking parameters are removed. |
| `url` | string | no | — | One product, category or sitemap URL. Handy for Clay, Make, Zapier, n8n and AI agents. Scraped together with urls. |
| `discover` | boolean | no | `false` | Treat each URL as a starting point. A sitemap.xml (or sitemap index) is read for its product URLs, a category or collection page gives its product links, and a homepage falls back to the sitemaps listed in robots.txt. Product pages are still scraped as themselves. Discovery is free; only product rows are charged. |
| `maxProducts` | integer | no | `100` | The most product URLs scraped in one run (given plus discovered). Each product found costs one product-result event. Set a maximum total charge on the run as an extra safety cap. |
| `includeVariants` | boolean | no | `true` | Add every variant (name, SKU, GTIN, price, regular price, stock, options such as size and colour) to each row. On Shopify and WooCommerce this reads the store's public product JSON (one extra request). Same price. |
| `monitorName` | string | no | `""` | Turns on change tracking. The last-seen price and stock of each URL are kept in your named key-value store products-\<monitorName>, and every row gets a changed object: isNew, price, availability, previousPrice, previousAvailability. Schedule the same input daily for competitor price monitoring. |
| `onlyChanges` | boolean | no | `false` | With a monitor name: output (and pay for) only products that are new or whose price or stock changed since the last run. Unchanged products are skipped and cost nothing. Pair it with a dataset webhook or integration for alerts. |

### Limits & honest notes

- Built for independent and direct-to-consumer stores. There are no proxies, unblockers or CAPTCHA solving. A 403, 429 or bot challenge (Cloudflare, DataDome, PerimeterX, Akamai, Imperva and others) stops that store for the rest of the run, with no retries, and its remaining URLs become free blocked rows. Amazon, Walmart, Target, eBay and similar big retailers will mostly be blocked or disallowed. Use a dedicated marketplace actor for those.
- Every store's robots.txt is read first and obeyed for our user agent (ActorForge-ProductScraper), including Crawl-delay (capped at 10 s). A disallowed product page gives a free robots-disallowed row and is never requested.
- Plain HTTP only: no JavaScript is run. Stores that render products only in the browser and publish no JSON-LD, microdata, OpenGraph product tags or Shopify/WooCommerce product JSON come back as free not-product rows.
- Prices are what the store publishes in its structured data, usually in the store's base currency. Prices for a specific country or logged-in customer, tax-inclusive variants and cart discounts are not visible. priceSource says where each price came from, and some stores' JSON-LD can lag behind the visible price.
- Variants come from offers arrays, ProductGroup.hasVariant, Shopify's /products/{handle}.js and the WooCommerce Store API. WooCommerce variation prices are not in that API, so those variants list their options without a price. Rows carry at most 250 variants and 20 images, and the description is capped at 2,000 characters of plain text.
- Ratings are aggregate only (ratingValue, reviewCount). Review text, reviewer names and any other personal data are never read into the output. Person sellers on marketplaces are dropped; only organisation sellers are kept.
- discover follows product sitemaps (sitemap indexes, gzip, robots.txt Sitemap: lines) and product links on category pages, up to maxProducts URLs. It reads at most 25 sitemaps per starting URL and does not page through paginated category pages.
- Monitor state is stored in your own named key-value store products-<monitorName> and keyed by URL. Use a separate monitor name for each product list. A change cut off by the spend limit is reported on the next run.
- The run's spend limit is respected: each product is charged just before it is delivered, and the run stops cleanly when the limit is reached.
