## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Himalayas Remote Jobs Scraper: Salary, Seniority, Timezones

Remote jobs from Himalayas.app (120k+ listings) via its public API: keyword search by country plus the latest-jobs feed, with salary range, seniority, employment type, country and timezone restrictions, categories, company, apply link and description. $0.35 per 1,000 jobs.

**A Himalayas scraper for remote jobs with real salary data.** Himalayas.app lists over 120,000 remote jobs, and its public API exposes what most boards hide: **salary minimum and maximum with currency and period**, **seniority level**, **employment type**, the **countries a job is open to** and its **timezone restrictions**. Give it keywords (engineer, product designer, customer support…) and optional candidate countries, and get one clean row per job: **title, company with logo and Himalayas company page, open-to location, worldwide or restricted, seniority, categories, salary range, posted and expiry dates, job link and apply link, and the full description as plain text**. Each keyword runs Himalayas' own search, and the **newest-first jobs feed** is scanned for more matches, with filters for worldwide-only, seniority, employment type, minimum salary and posting age. Leave keywords empty to collect the latest remote jobs for a daily feed. Use it for **remote job boards and newsletters**, recruiting and sourcing, **remote salary benchmarking**, hiring-signal lead lists and job market research. **$0.35 per 1,000 jobs**, with no compute bill on top; problems return a free status row instead of failing.

### What data does it return?

Every run outputs clean, schema-validated rows like these:

| title | company | location | employmentType | salaryMin | salaryPeriod |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Software Engineer, AI Coding Tasks (Contract) | Askable | Worldwide | Contractor | 100 | hour |
| Part-time HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Engineers | WB Engineers+Consultants | United States | Part Time | | |
| Civil Design Engineer II/III | Revamp Engineering, Inc. | United States | Full Time | 99800 | year |

### How much does it cost?

Transparent pay-per-event pricing — you only pay for what you get, and the
actor **always respects your run budget**: set a maximum total charge and it
stops cleanly at the cap instead of overrunning.

| Event | Price | Charged | Worked example |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `job-result` | $0.00035 | per job row | 1,000 jobs = $0.35 (descriptions included) |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.00005 | per run per GB of memory (platform start fee) | One run at 256 MB = $0.00005 |

| `scanLatestFeed` | boolean | no | `true` | After the keyword searches (20 results each), page through Himalayas' newest-first feed and keep the jobs that match your keywords and filters. Turn off for search results only. |
| `maxFeedPages` | integer | no | `50` | Feed pages to scan (20 newest jobs each; 50 pages = the newest 1,000 jobs). |
| `includeDescription` | boolean | no | `true` | Add the full job description as plain text (e-mail addresses and phone numbers removed). A short snippet is always included. |
| `maxItems` | integer | no | `200` | Stop after this many jobs in total. Each job is one charged row. |

### Limits & honest notes

- **Responsible use:** you are responsible for using the data in line with Himalayas' terms and API guidelines and with data-protection law (GDPR). Himalayas asks API users to credit them: every row carries an attribution with a link to himalayas.app, so please keep it when you republish jobs. This actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Himalayas.
- It uses Himalayas' public, keyless jobs API (/jobs/api and /jobs/api/search). No login, no cookies, no proxies and no CAPTCHA solving; it sends an honest user agent (ActorForge-Himalayas), waits at least 1 s between requests and checks robots.txt before each one.
- Himalayas' robots.txt disallows search pages after the first, so each keyword search returns its top 20 jobs; deeper coverage comes from the newest-first feed (cursor pages, which robots.txt allows) with your filters applied by the actor.
- Salaries are shown as Himalayas lists them (currency and period vary by job). E-mail addresses and phone numbers are removed from descriptions; no recruiter contact details are collected.
- If the site answers with a block, the run stops at once, keeps the jobs already delivered and adds a free status row. Respects your run budget: set a maximum total charge and the run stops cleanly at the cap. A run with no results returns one free status row.
