## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Kalshi Markets Scraper — Prediction Market Prices & Volume

Kalshi prediction-market data from the official public API: yes/no bid and ask, last price, 24h change, volume, open interest, close time, event, series and category, plus optional order book and rules. Search, categories, series or tickers. $1 per 1,000 markets.

**Kalshi prediction-market data in clean rows, from Kalshi's own public Trade API.** Find markets by **search terms, Kalshi categories (Economics, Politics, Financials, Crypto, Climate and Weather, Sports...), series tickers, event tickers or kalshi.com URLs, or exact market tickers**, or list open markets across the exchange. Every row is one market: the question and outcome, **yes and no bid and ask** (in dollars, which is the implied probability), **last price, 24-hour price change and spread**, top-of-book sizes, **total and 24-hour volume, open interest**, open, close and expected expiration times, status and result, plus the parent event, series and category. Optionally add the **resolution rules** and an **order book snapshot** of yes and no bids. For **weather markets**, give city names to get every daily high/low temperature and rain bracket for that city, with the bracket bounds as numbers, the unit, the settlement station and, optionally, the **live airport observation (METAR)** at that station. Filter by status (open, closed, settled), close-date window, minimum 24h volume or open interest, and skip auto-generated combo markets. Use it for **forecasting research, macro and Fed-rate tracking, weather and election dashboards, alerts**, academic studies and comparing Kalshi with Polymarket or polls. **$1 per 1,000 markets**, with no compute bill on top; problems return a free status row instead of failing.

### What data does it return?

Every run outputs clean, schema-validated rows like these:

| title | yesBid | yesAsk | volume24h | eventTitle |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Will the upper bound of the federal funds rate be above 3.50% following the Fed's Apr 28, 2027 meeting? | 0.95 | 0.98 | 133.16 | Fed funds rate after Apr 2027 meeting? |
| Will Elon Musk visit Mars before Aug 1, 2099? | 0.1 | 0.11 | 479.37 | Will Elon Musk visit Mars in his lifetime? |
| Will the maximum temperature be 63-64° on Oct 24, 2026? | 0.12 | 0.13 | 4937.71 | Highest temperature in New York City on Oct 24, 2026? |

### How much does it cost?

Transparent pay-per-event pricing — you only pay for what you get, and the
actor **always respects your run budget**: set a maximum total charge and it
stops cleanly at the cap instead of overrunning.

| Event | Price | Charged | Worked example |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `market` | $0.001 | per market row | 1,000 markets = $1.00 (order book included when you turn it on) |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.00005 | per run per GB of memory (platform start fee) | One run at 256 MB = $0.00005 |

### Input options

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `searchTerms` | array | no | — | Optional keywords matched against Kalshi event titles and tickers, e.g. fed, bitcoin, inflation, election, temperature. Every market of a matching event is returned. |
| `categories` | array | no | — | Optional Kalshi categories, e.g. Economics, Politics, Elections, Financials, Crypto, Climate and Weather, Sports, Entertainment, Science and Technology, Companies, Commodities. Combined with Search, an event must match both. |
| `seriesTickers` | array | no | — | Optional Kalshi series tickers, e.g. KXFED, KXHIGHNY, KXBTCD, KXCPIYOY. Returns the markets of every event in the series. |
| `eventTickers` | array | no | — | Optional event tickers (e.g. KXFEDDECISION-26DEC) or kalshi.com market page URLs. A URL or ticker that names a series lists that series. |
| `cities` | array | no | — | Optional cities for Kalshi weather markets (daily high and low temperature, rain, snow), e.g. New York, Chicago, Miami, Austin, Denver, London, Paris, Tokyo. Codes such as NYC, DC, LA or ICAO airports (EGLL) also work. Daily temperature brackets come first. |
| `includeObservations` | boolean | no | `false` | For weather markets, add the latest airport observation at the settlement station (temperature, dew point, wind, weather, raw METAR) and the high and low of the last 24 hours, from NOAA's aviationweather.gov. Indicative only: Kalshi settles on the official daily climate report. |
| `marketTickers` | array | no | — | Optional exact market tickers, e.g. KXELONMARS-99. Returned whatever their status. |
| `status` | string | no | `"open"` | Open markets (trading now), closed markets (awaiting settlement), settled markets, or all. |
| `excludeCombos` | boolean | no | `true` | Skip Kalshi's auto-generated combo/parlay markets (tickers starting KXMVE), which are numerous and rarely traded. |
| `minVolume24h` | integer | no | — | Optional: skip markets that traded fewer contracts in the last 24 hours. |
| `minOpenInterest` | integer | no | — | Optional: skip markets with less open interest. |
| `closeAfter` | string | no | — | Optional: only markets that close on or after this date. |
| `closeBefore` | string | no | — | Optional: only markets that close on or before this date. |
| `includeRules` | boolean | no | `false` | Add each market's primary and secondary rules text. |
| `includeOrderbook` | boolean | no | `false` | Add a snapshot of the yes and no bids (price and contracts per level). One extra request per market. |
| `orderbookDepth` | integer | no | `10` | Price levels per side in the order book snapshot. |
| `maxEventPages` | integer | no | `100` | Search and categories scan Kalshi's event list, 200 events per page (about 85 pages cover every open event). Lower it for faster, partial searches. |
| `maxItems` | integer | no | `200` | Upper limit on markets for the whole run. With no search, categories or tickers, the run lists open markets across Kalshi, newest first. |

### Limits & honest notes

- **Responsible use:** this is market data only. Nothing in it is financial, investment or betting advice, and prices are not predictions by ActorForge. Event-contract trading is restricted in some places; follow your local law and Kalshi's terms. This actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Kalshi.
- It reads only Kalshi's documented public market-data endpoints (api.elections.kalshi.com/trade-api/v2: markets, events, order books), with no key, no login, no account and no trading, at most four requests per second with an honest user agent (ActorForge-Kalshi).
- Kalshi has no keyword-search endpoint, so Search and Categories scan Kalshi's event list (200 events per request, about 85 requests for every open event) and match event titles and tickers; set "Event pages to scan" lower for quicker partial searches. With no filters the run lists open markets newest first.
- Prices are the latest values Kalshi publishes and can move within seconds; check the scrapedAt time. Kalshi's order book lists bids only: a yes bid at X is the same as a no ask at 1 − X.
- If Kalshi refuses a request or rate-limits the run, the run stops, keeps the markets already delivered and adds a free status row. Respects your run budget: set a maximum total charge and the run stops cleanly at the cap. Unknown tickers and empty searches return a free status row.
