## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Spotify Stream Counts: Play Counts, Monthly Listeners, Charts

Total and daily Spotify streams for every song of an artist, artist stream totals, monthly listeners and rank, top artists by listeners, and daily or weekly country charts with streams and movement. From kworb.net public pages. No Spotify login. $1.20 per 1,000 rows.

**Spotify play counts without the Spotify API.** Give it **artists** (Spotify URL, ID or name) and get **every song with its total and daily Spotify streams**, plus an artist summary: **total streams, daily streams, lead/solo/feature splits, track count, and monthly listeners with global rank**. Add **country charts** (global, us, gb, br...) for the daily or weekly chart with **position, movement, days on chart, peak, streams, 7-day streams and all-time totals**, or rank the **top artists by monthly listeners** with daily change and peak. Use it for **music marketing and A\&R research**, label and catalogue valuation, playlist pitching, tracking a release day by day, fan sites and dashboards. The data comes from kworb.net, a long-running public music-statistics site that compiles Spotify figures daily. **$1.20 per 1,000 rows**, with no compute bill on top; problems return a free status row instead of failing.

### What data does it return?

Every run outputs clean, schema-validated rows like these:

| type | artistName | totalStreams | dailyStreams | monthlyListeners | title | country | position | streams |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| artist | Taylor Swift | 132454451338 | 47844699 | 105412748 | | | | |
| song | Taylor Swift | 3517678103 | 906873 | | Cruel Summer | | | |
| chart | | | | | Housewife | us | 1 | 2158905 |

### How much does it cost?

Transparent pay-per-event pricing — you only pay for what you get, and the
actor **always respects your run budget**: set a maximum total charge and it
stops cleanly at the cap instead of overrunning.

| Event | Price | Charged | Worked example |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `row` | $0.0012 | per artist, song, listeners or chart row | 1,000 rows = $1.20 |
| `apify-actor-start` | $0.00005 | per run per GB of memory (platform start fee) | One run at 256 MB = $0.00005 |

### Input options

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `artists` | array | no | — | Spotify artist URLs (open.spotify.com/artist/...), artist IDs, or exact artist names. Names are matched against the top 5,000 artists by monthly listeners; use the URL for smaller artists. |
| `maxSongsPerArtist` | integer | no | `50` | How many songs to return per artist, most-streamed first. 0 returns the artist summary only. |
| `includeArtistSummary` | boolean | no | `true` | One row per artist with total and daily streams (lead, solo, feature), track count, and monthly listeners with rank when the artist is in the top 5,000. |
| `countryCharts` | array | no | — | Optional: Spotify charts to return, as "global" or two-letter market codes (us, gb, de, br, mx, jp, in...). |
| `chartPeriod` | string | no | `"daily"` | Daily or weekly chart. |
| `maxChartPositions` | integer | no | `200` | Top N positions of each chart. |
| `topArtistsByListeners` | integer | no | `0` | Optional: return the top N artists ranked by Spotify monthly listeners, with daily change and peak. 0 = off. |
| `maxItems` | integer | no | `1000` | Upper limit on rows for the whole run. |

### Limits & honest notes

- **Responsible use:** stream counts are compiled by kworb.net from Spotify's public figures; please credit kworb.net when you publish them. This actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Spotify or kworb.net.
- It reads only kworb.net's public HTML pages (robots.txt allows everything), at most one page per second with an honest user agent (ActorForge-SpotifyStreams). There is no login, no cookies and no proxies, and it never contacts Spotify.
- Coverage is what kworb.net tracks: artists that have charted on Spotify. Figures update once a day, not in real time. Artist names are matched only against the top 5,000 artists by monthly listeners; paste the Spotify artist URL for anyone else.
- An artist summary needs the monthly-listeners pages (2,500 artists per page), which are loaded once per run when needed.
- If kworb.net refuses a request, the run stops, keeps the rows already delivered and adds a free status row. Respects your run budget: set a maximum total charge and the run stops cleanly at the cap. Unknown artists and charts return a free status row.
