# ATS Detector — Find Any Company's Job Board & Platform (`actorworks/ats-detector`) Actor

Give it company domains, get back which applicant-tracking system each uses (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Recruitee, Workable, Personio, Teamtailor, BambooHR and more), the public board URL, and a live open-jobs count.

## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## ATS Detector — Find Any Company's Job Board & Hiring Platform

**Give it company domains, get back exactly where each company posts its jobs.** For every domain, this actor identifies which applicant-tracking system (ATS) the company uses, the public board identifier and URL, and — verified live — how many roles are currently open.

| Company | ATS | Board ID | Open jobs | Verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| anthropic.com | greenhouse | anthropic | 567 | ✅ |
| gitlab.com | greenhouse | gitlab | 219 | ✅ |
| notion.so | ashby | notion | 132 | ✅ |
| linear.app | ashby | Linear | 29 | ✅ |
| blueground.com | workable | blueground | 25 | ✅ |

### How it works

Two detection passes, no browser, no proxies:

1. **Careers-page fingerprinting** — fetches the company's careers pages and matches known ATS hosts and embed markers (16 platforms recognised).
2. **API confirmation & fallback** — calls the detected ATS's public endpoint to confirm the board exists and count live jobs. If the careers page is JavaScript-rendered (where most detectors fail), it probes ATS endpoints directly by company slug — which recovered every miss in our test set.

Every result is **verified against live data**, not guessed from a page pattern.

### Platforms recognised

Greenhouse · Lever · Ashby · SmartRecruiters · Workday · Recruitee · Workable · Personio · Teamtailor · BambooHR · Jobvite · Breezy · Rippling · Pinpoint

The first eight are directly scrapeable with **[ATS Jobs Scraper](https://apify.com/actorworks/ats-jobs-scraper)** — each result carries a `supportedByActorWorks` flag and the actor to pipe it into.

### Input

```json
{
  "domains": ["linear.app", "gitlab.com", "blueground.com"],
  "confirmJobCounts": true
}
```

### Use cases

- **Recruiting-tech sales & market research** — see which ATS vendors own which segments of the market
- **Job-aggregator pipelines** — turn a list of target companies into board identifiers, then scrape them all with ATS Jobs Scraper
- **Hiring intelligence** — live open-role counts per company, without parsing a single careers page
- **Competitive/HR-tech analysis** — measure ATS market share across any set of companies

### Pricing

Pay per domain checked: **$0.004 per domain** plus a fractional start fee — roughly **$4 per 1,000 companies**, cheaper on paid Apify plans.

### FAQ

**What if a company uses no recognised ATS?** You get a record with `ats: null` — a clean signal it's a custom or unrecognised board, not a silent failure.

**Does it work on JavaScript-rendered careers pages?** Yes — that's what the API-probe fallback is for.

**Is this legal?** It reads public careers pages and public ATS endpoints, logged out, no circumvention. Company-level data only; no personal data is collected.

**Something not detected that should be?** Open an issue — it goes straight to the maintainer, and new ATS platforms ship regularly.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Company websites to check (e.g. linear.app, gitlab.com). Full URLs work too.

## `confirmJobCounts` (type: `boolean`):

After detecting the ATS, call its public endpoint to confirm and count open jobs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "linear.app",
    "gitlab.com",
    "blueground.com"
  ],
  "confirmJobCounts": true
}
```

};

// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("actorworks/ats-detector").call(input);

// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
