# Contactable Business Leads - Phone, Website, Email by Area (`adam261987/contactable-business-leads`) Actor

Businesses in any city WITH a phone, website or email - not map pins you cannot call. Only contactable records, deduplicated by contact detail. No API key, no proxy, no browser. Cheap Apollo alternative for city and regional lists. Data (c) OpenStreetMap, ODbL.

## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 lead fetcheds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Contactable Business Leads

**Get businesses in any area with a phone number, website or email attached — not
map pins you cannot call.**

Most business-data tools return every point of interest they find. Roughly half of
those carry no contact method at all. A lead you cannot reach is not a lead, and a
row you cannot act on is not worth paying for.

This Actor returns **only the contactable subset**, so every record in your dataset
has something you can use: a number to call, a site to visit, or an inbox to write
to. It also **deduplicates by contact detail** — the same phone number listed
under two names is delivered once, because a wasted call is wasted money.

***

### Who this is for

- **Local outreach** — build a list of every clinic, garage or school in a city in minutes.
- **Territory planning** — check coverage before you commit to a sales region.
- **Market research** — see how dense a business category is in an area.
- **Cheap Apollo alternative** — for city and regional list building, where a paid
  national database is overkill.

### Who this is **not** for

Be aware before you pay:

- **Not a national database.** This reads OpenStreetMap, which is community-mapped
  and uneven. It is strong across Europe and dense cities, and **sparse in some
  rural regions**.
- **Not an email finder.** Email is returned only where it is already recorded. No
  guessing, no pattern inference.
- **Not a competitor to Apollo for national lists.** If you need 200,000 verified
  emails across a whole country, buy that. If you need the 300 reachable garages in
  one city, this is far cheaper and starts immediately.

Every run reports its **contactable ratio** in the `STATS` key so you can judge
coverage for your area before drawing conclusions from an empty result.

***

### Quick start

**1. Give it an area** — either a bounding box:

```json
{
  "categories": ["clinic"],
  "bbox": [30.02, 31.20, 30.10, 31.35]
}
```

**…or a centre point and a radius:**

```json
{
  "categories": ["clinic", "school"],
  "lat": 30.0444,
  "lon": 31.2357,
  "radiusKm": 8
}
```

That is Cairo. A `bbox` is `[south, west, north, east]` — **lower-left first, then
upper-right.** A rough city is about `0.1 x 0.1` degrees.

### Categories

`clinic` · `lodging` · `restaurant` · `gym` · `school` · `bank` · `car_repair` ·
`coworking` · `charging` · `fuel` · `retail` · `beauty`

You may combine several in one run. You may also pass a raw OpenStreetMap tag
value (for example `veterinary`) to search something not on the list.

### Input reference

| Field | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| `categories` | `string[]` | `["clinic"]` | Business types to collect |
| `bbox` | `number[4]` | — | `[south, west, north, east]` |
| `lat`, `lon` | `number` | — | Centre point, used with `radiusKm` |
| `radiusKm` | `number` | `10` | Radius when using `lat`/`lon` |
| `limit` | `integer` | `1000` | Max records (up to 25000) |
| `includeUncontactable` | `boolean` | `false` | Also return records with no contact details |

### Output

```json
{
  "name": "City Park Hotel",
  "category": "lodging",
  "phone": "",
  "website": "www.cph-sochi.com",
  "email": "",
  "street": "",
  "city": "Sochi",
  "postcode": "",
  "country": "RU",
  "lat": 43.6021,
  "lon": 39.7342,
  "osmId": "node/123456",
  "osmUrl": "https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/123456",
  "attribution": "(c) OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL"
}
```

Names come back in their **original local language** — a Sochi hotel stays in
Cyrillic, an Istanbul clinic in Turkish — so you can use them as-is rather than
transliterating.

### Run summary

The default key-value store contains `STATS`:

```json
{
  "named": 351,
  "contactable": 150,
  "uncontactable": 201,
  "contactableRatioPct": 43,
  "delivered": 150
}
```

`contactableRatioPct` is the honest signal for whether an area is worth searching.

### If you get no results

The dataset will contain a record explaining why, and **you will not be charged
for an empty result**:

- *No businesses of these categories are mapped in this area* — widen the radius,
  try another category, or pick a denser area.
- *Found N businesses, none with contact details* — the area is mapped but not
  contact-rich.
- *Overpass is rate-limited* — the free public endpoint is occasionally busy.
  Retry shortly, or narrow the area.

***

### Why it is cheaper

OpenStreetMap's Overpass API is free and needs **no API key, no proxy and no
browser**. Browser-driven Google Maps scrapers pay roughly **$8 per GB of
residential proxy** before they return a single record. This Actor's marginal cost
per record is effectively zero, which is what allows a genuinely low per-record
price while still being worth running.

You pay per record delivered. Empty and uncontactable results cost nothing.

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Business types to collect. Combine as many as you need.

## `bbox` (type: `array`):

Search area as four numbers: \[south, west, north, east]. Use this OR lat and lon below. A whole city is roughly 0.1 x 0.1 degrees.

## `lat` (type: `number`):

Latitude of the centre point. Use with lon and radiusKm instead of the bounding box.

## `lon` (type: `number`):

Longitude of the centre point. Use with lat and radiusKm instead of the bounding box.

## `radiusKm` (type: `number`):

Search radius in kilometres around lat and lon.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of records to return.

## `includeUncontactable` (type: `boolean`):

Also return businesses that have no phone, website or email. Off by default because you are only charged for contactable records.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "categories": [
    "clinic"
  ],
  "radiusKm": 10,
  "limit": 1000,
  "includeUncontactable": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `leads` (type: `string`):

Every record has a phone number, website or email. Deduplicated by contact detail.
