## Pricing

from $2.50 / 1,000 repositories

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## GitHub Repo & Tech Adoption Monitor by Adaptive Labs

Watch GitHub for new repositories and technology adoption signals using the **public GitHub Search API**. Pass one or more search queries (language, topic, keyword, organisation) and get clean JSON with stars, forks, language, topics and activity dates. Enable **only new** mode to schedule cheap ongoing monitors.

### What you get

- Repository ID, full name, owner and URL
- Description, primary language and topics
- Stars, forks, open issues and watchers
- Licence, fork flag, created, updated and last push timestamps
- The search query that matched the repository

### How it works

The Actor calls `https://api.github.com/search/repositories` with your queries. No browser and no paid proxy are required. Without a GitHub token you share the public unauthenticated rate limit; for scheduled monitors add an optional personal access token.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **Search queries** (GitHub search syntax is supported).
2. Choose a **Sort** (updated is best for monitoring; stars for popularity).
3. Keep **Max repos per query** small for daily tests, then raise it for deeper pulls.
4. Enable **Only new since last run** for scheduled watches.

Empty input falls back to `apify language:typescript` so platform tests succeed quickly.

### Input example

```json
{
  "queries": ["apify language:typescript", "topic:mcp"],
  "maxReposPerQuery": 20,
  "sort": "updated",
  "onlyNew": true,
  "monitorKey": "apify-ts"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per result: you are charged for each repository saved to the dataset, plus a small start fee per run. See the Pricing tab for current rates.

### Disclaimer

This Actor uses the public GitHub API. You are responsible for complying with GitHub's terms and rate limits. It is not affiliated with GitHub.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

GitHub search queries (for example apify language:typescript or topic:mcp). Uses the public Search Repositories API.

## `maxReposPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Maximum repositories to return for each query (GitHub allows up to 1000 per search, capped here for cost control).

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Sort order for search results.

## `githubToken` (type: `string`):

Optional personal access token for a higher rate limit. Without a token the public unauthenticated limit applies (about 10 search requests per minute).

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Skip repositories already returned by an earlier run that used the same monitor key.

## `monitorKey` (type: `string`):

Name of the saved state used for only-new mode.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. The public GitHub API normally works without a proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "apify language:typescript"
  ],
  "maxReposPerQuery": 20,
  "sort": "updated",
  "onlyNew": false,
  "monitorKey": "default",
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `repositories` (type: `string`):

Default dataset of monitored repositories (overview view).

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "queries": [
        "apify language:typescript"
    ],
    "maxReposPerQuery": 20,
    "sort": "updated",
    "proxyConfiguration": {
        "useApifyProxy": false
    }
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("adaptive_labs/github-tech-adoption-monitor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
