## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Polish Company Lookup: KRS, VAT White List, CEIDG

**Polish Company Lookup** checks a Polish company by **NIP** (tax ID), **KRS number** or name and returns **one company card** that merges official government registers: the **KRS** court register (Krajowy Rejestr Sądowy), the **VAT White List** (Biała Lista podatników VAT, Ministry of Finance) and **CEIDG** (register of sole proprietorships). Use it for counterparty checks (weryfikacja kontrahenta), KYB, invoice payment checks and enriching B2B lead lists.

This actor gives you the company data, VAT status and bank accounts in a single row.

### What data does it return?

| Field | Source | Example |
|---|---|---|
| `name`, `legalForm` | KRS / CEIDG / White List | POLSKIE KOLEJE PAŃSTWOWE SPÓŁKA AKCYJNA |
| `nip`, `regon`, `krs` | all | 5250000251, 000126801, 0000019193 |
| `address` | KRS / CEIDG / White List | ALEJE JEROZOLIMSKIE 142A, 02-305 WARSZAWA |
| `vatStatus` | VAT White List | Czynny (active VAT payer), Zwolniony (exempt) or Not registered for VAT |
| `bankAccounts` | VAT White List | registered bank accounts (NRB) |
| `pkdMain` | KRS | main activity code (PKD) and description |
| `krsData` | KRS | registration date, last entry, share capital, management body, representation rules, board functions, PKD list, website, e-delivery address |
| `vatWhiteList` | VAT White List | full White List record incl. registration/removal dates and the official `requestId` (proof of the check) |
| `ceidgData` | CEIDG | owner, status, start date, business address (when CEIDG is enabled) |
| `sources`, `errors` | – | which registers answered, and why something is missing |

The KRS open API masks the names of board members, so the card lists board **functions** (e.g. PREZES ZARZĄDU), not names. Board names on the White List are returned as published there.

### How to check a Polish company by NIP or KRS

1. Put NIPs, KRS numbers or names in **Companies to check**, one per line. Dashes and the `PL` prefix are fine: `526-025-02-74`, `PL5260250274`, `0000019193`, `19193`.
2. Run the actor. Each query gives one card (a name can give several).
3. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them via the API.

A 10-digit number with a valid NIP checksum is treated as a NIP, otherwise as a KRS number. Force the type with a prefix: `nip:`, `krs:`, `name:`.

#### Input example

```json
{
    "queries": ["5260250274", "0000019193", "krs: 22744"]
}
```

#### Output example (shortened)

```json
{
    "query": "0000019193",
    "queryType": "krs",
    "found": true,
    "name": "POLSKIE KOLEJE PAŃSTWOWE SPÓŁKA AKCYJNA",
    "nip": "5250000251",
    "regon": "000126801",
    "krs": "0000019193",
    "legalForm": "SPÓŁKA AKCYJNA",
    "address": "ALEJE JEROZOLIMSKIE 142A, 02-305 WARSZAWA",
    "vatStatus": "Czynny",
    "bankAccounts": ["..."],
    "pkdMain": { "code": "70.10.Z", "description": "DZIAŁALNOŚĆ FIRM CENTRALNYCH (HEAD OFFICES) I HOLDINGÓW..." },
    "sources": ["KRS", "VAT White List"],
    "errors": []
}
```

### Search by company name (CEIDG)

The KRS and the VAT White List can only be searched by number. Search by name, and the details of sole proprietorships (owner, CEIDG status, start date), come from CEIDG. The actor has its own CEIDG access, so you do not need anything; you can optionally paste your own free token from [dane.biznes.gov.pl](https://dane.biznes.gov.pl) into **Your own CEIDG API token** (stored as a secret input). One NIP can have several CEIDG entries (old closed ones and the current one): the card shows the active entry, or the newest one. If CEIDG rejects the token or does not respond, the card is still built from the KRS and the VAT White List, and `errors` says that CEIDG was skipped and why.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per company card found: **$3 per 1,000 cards** ($0.003 per card). Queries that find nothing are not charged.

| Companies | Price |
|---|---|
| 10 | $0.03 |
| 100 | $0.30 |
| 1,000 | $3.00 |

You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options; the actor stops when it is reached.

### Use it from the API, Make or Zapier

Run it with the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2) (`run-sync-get-dataset-items` returns the cards in one call) or connect it in Make, Zapier or n8n with the Apify integration, e.g. check every new customer NIP from a form or CRM.

### FAQ

**Is this data official?** Yes. Every value comes live from the official public APIs of the Polish Ministry of Justice (KRS) and Ministry of Finance (VAT White List), and from CEIDG when enabled. The White List `requestId` identifies the check if you need to prove you verified a bank account before payment.

**Why is `found` false?** The `errors` field says why: the number is not in any register (a 10-digit number with a typo in it is treated as a KRS number and fails this way; use the `nip:` prefix to get an "invalid NIP (checksum failed)" error instead), or a register is temporarily unavailable.

**Does it scrape websites?** No. It calls only official, free government APIs, so runs are fast and cheap.

**How fresh is the data?** It is fetched at run time. `krsData.stateAsOf` shows the KRS state date and `checkedAt` the time of the check.

**Found a bug or need a field?** Open an issue in the Issues tab; we answer there.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One company per line: a NIP (tax ID, 10 digits, with or without dashes or the PL prefix), a KRS number (up to 10 digits, e.g. 0000019193) or a company name. You can force the type with a prefix: nip:, krs: or name:. Search by name uses CEIDG.

## `maxNameResults` (type: `integer`):

When you search by name, how many matching businesses to return (each found company is one charged card).

## `ceidgToken` (type: `string`):

Optional. The actor already has CEIDG access (sole proprietorships, search by name). Paste your own free token from dane.biznes.gov.pl only if you want to use it instead.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "5260250274",
    "0000019193"
  ],
  "maxNameResults": 5
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All company cards from this run (one item per query).
