## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Company Sales Trigger Monitor — First-Party Website Changes

Turn a company domain into machine-ready **why-now sales signals** using only the company's own public website.

Designed for sales agents, GTM workflows, lead scoring systems, and AI agents that need current external facts with evidence.

### What it detects

- hiring activity and job-page changes
- funding announcements
- expansion / new office / new market language
- contract wins and awards
- acquisitions
- executive appointments
- product or service launches
- partnerships
- pricing / enterprise / contact-sales intent
- page changes since the previous run

### Why this is different

This is **not another contact database** and it does not scrape LinkedIn.

It answers:

> **What changed at this company, and why might now be a better time to contact them?**

The first run creates a baseline. Later runs highlight new evidence.

### Input

```json
{
  "domains": ["stripe.com", "notion.so"],
  "maxPagesPerCompany": 6,
  "respectRobotsTxt": true
}
```

Up to 50 companies per run.

### Output

```json
{
  "domain": "example.com",
  "mode": "monitor",
  "whyNowScore": 82,
  "tier": "HOT",
  "scoreBasis": "new_signals_plus_current_state",
  "changesSincePrevious": 3,
  "newSignalsCount": 2,
  "newSignals": [
    {
      "type": "expansion",
      "detail": "...new office...",
      "sourceUrl": "https://example.com/news/...",
      "freshnessDays": 4,
      "freshness": "fresh",
      "confidence": 0.84
    }
  ]
}
```

The score is a heuristic prioritization signal, **not a prediction that the company will buy**.

### Pricing

Pay per event:

- `company-checked`: **$0.01 per company**

### Scope and privacy

- public first-party website pages only
- no login or cookies
- no LinkedIn scraping
- no paid third-party API required
- monitoring state is separated by the Apify user who started the run
- private / loopback / link-local network destinations are blocked
- `robots.txt` is respected by default

### Limitations

Some sites render nearly all content in JavaScript. This release intentionally avoids a browser to stay fast and low-maintenance. Such sites may return weaker results and a warning.

Freshness is only reported when the website exposes a usable publication date.

### Suggested workflow

Run target domains → store results → run again later → prioritize companies with new evidence → review source URLs before outreach.
