## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Reviews Scraper

Download **all reviews of any Android app** from Google Play: star rating, review text, date, app version, likes and the developer's reply. Choose the country, the language and the sort order, filter by date, and get app details (overall score, ratings histogram, installs, developer contact) in the same run.

Give it package names like `com.whatsapp` or Google Play URLs and get a clean dataset you can analyze in Excel, feed to a sentiment model or stream into your product dashboard.

### What can you do with it?

- **Review monitoring**: schedule the Actor daily with `reviewedAfter` and get only the new reviews of your app, pushed to Slack, email, Google Sheets or Zendesk.
- **Sentiment and topic analysis**: thousands of reviews with ratings and app versions, ready for an LLM or a classifier. Find out what broke in the last release.
- **Competitor research**: compare complaints and praise across competing apps and countries.
- **ASO and product research**: see which features users ask for most before you build them.
- **Customer support**: never miss a 1-star review again, and track whether the developer replies.
- **Market research datasets**: histograms, install ranges and scores for any list of apps.

### Features

- Any app, any country (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `it`, `in`, `br`...), any language.
- Sort by **newest**, **most helpful** or **rating**.
- `reviewedAfter` date filter stops pagination at the first older review, so incremental runs are cheap.
- Developer replies (`replyText`, `replyDate`), likes (`thumbsUp`), app version, criteria ratings.
- One `app` record per app with title, developer, email and website, genre, score, ratings and reviews counts, histogram (1–5 stars), installs, price, latest version and update date.
- Apps that don't exist in the chosen country return an `error` record instead of failing the run.
- No browser, no proxy: fast and inexpensive.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `apps` | array | required | Package names or Google Play URLs. |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | integer | 200 | Upper limit per app. |
| `sort` | string | `newest` | `newest`, `helpfulness` or `rating`. |
| `country` | string | `us` | Two-letter store country. |
| `language` | string | `en` | Two-letter language. Google Play returns only reviews written in this language. |
| `reviewedAfter` | string | – | ISO date. With `sort = newest` the run stops when older reviews are reached. |
| `includeAppDetails` | boolean | true | Output an `app` record per app. |

Example:

```json
{
    "apps": ["com.whatsapp", "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music"],
    "maxReviewsPerApp": 1000,
    "sort": "newest",
    "country": "us",
    "language": "en",
    "reviewedAfter": "2026-10-01"
### Pricing
You pay per review returned, plus a small amount per app details record. No platform usage fees are added on top. Use `maxReviewsPerApp` and `reviewedAfter` to control the cost precisely.
### Tips
- Reviews are **language and country specific**. Run the Actor once per market you care about (for example `country: "de", language: "de"`).
- For a complete history, use `sort: "newest"` and a large `maxReviewsPerApp`. Google Play serves reviews in batches of 150, so 10,000 reviews take about a minute.
- Pipe the dataset into the Apify integrations (Google Sheets, Slack, Make, Zapier, n8n) or call the Actor from your code with the Apify API or the MCP server.
### Limitations
- Google Play only exposes reviews in the selected language; the total number of accessible reviews can be lower than the number shown on the store page.
- Review order for `newest` follows Google's own ranking and can be off by a few minutes.
### Legal and fair use
The Actor reads public Google Play pages. Store and process reviewer data in line with Google's terms and privacy laws such as GDPR.
### Support
# Actor input Schema
## `apps` (type: `array`):
Package names or Google Play URLs, e.g. `com.whatsapp` or `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music`.
## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):
Upper limit of reviews to collect for each app.
## `sort` (type: `string`):
Order in which Google Play returns reviews. Use `newest` for monitoring and `helpfulness` for the reviews users see first.
## `country` (type: `string`):
Two-letter store country code (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `it`, `in`, `br`...). Reviews differ per country.
## `language` (type: `string`):
Two-letter language code (`en`, `de`, `it`, `es`...). Only reviews written in this language are returned by Google Play.
## `reviewedAfter` (type: `string`):
Optional ISO date such as `2026-01-01`. Works best with sort = newest: scraping stops as soon as older reviews are reached, so you pay only for new reviews.
## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also output one record per app with title, developer, overall score, ratings histogram, installs and price (`type: "app"`).
## Actor input object example
```json
{
  "apps": [
    "com.whatsapp"
  ],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 200,
  "sort": "newest",
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en",
  "includeAppDetails": true
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
Reviews and app detail records as JSON (one item per review or app).
