## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Google News Scraper do?

It searches [Google News](https://news.google.com/) for your keywords and returns every article with its **title, source, publish date and the real article URL**: the publisher's own link, not the `news.google.com` redirect.

- 🌍 Any country and language (for example `en`/`US`, `de`/`DE`, `ar`/`AE`, `pt-BR`/`BR`)
- 📅 **Get past Google's 100-result limit** with a date range: the Actor searches day by day
- 🔗 **Real article URLs**, cleaned of tracking parameters, ready to open or scrape
- ⚡ Fast and reliable: no browser, no proxy, about 100 articles in 10 seconds
- 💲 **$2 per 1,000 articles**

### Use cases

- Media monitoring and brand mentions
- Market, competitor and investor news tracking
- Feeding news into AI agents, RAG pipelines, Slack or Google Sheets alerts
- Research datasets: every article about a topic over a period

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Search queries | `tesla`, `"openai" OR "anthropic"`, `site:reuters.com ai` | Google News search operators work |
| Time range | Past 24 hours | 1h, 1d, 7d, 30d, 1y or any time |
| Date from / Date to | 2026-10-01 → 2026-10-15 | searches day by day, for many more results |
| Language / Country | `en` / `US` | |
| Get real article URLs | on | turn off for maximum speed |
| Max articles | 100 | caps the cost of a run |

```json
{
  "queries": ["bitcoin", "ethereum"],
  "dateFrom": "2026-10-01",
  "dateTo": "2026-10-07",
  "language": "en",
  "country": "US",
  "maxItems": 1000
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "title": "Free AI workshop to help Coast businesses tackle challenges",
  "source": "WLOX",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.wlox.com",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-17T14:58:00+00:00",
  "articleUrl": "https://www.wlox.com/2026/10/17/free-ai-workshop-help-coast-businesses-tackle-challenges/",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMikwFBVV95cUxOQ2d4...",
  "query": "artificial intelligence"
}
```

Export as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read through the Apify API. Schedule it hourly or daily for alerts.

### Pricing

You pay **$0.002 per article** saved, which is $2 per 1,000. Platform usage is included. Set **Max articles** to control the cost of each run.

### Tips

- Google returns at most about 100 articles per search. For more, set **Date from / Date to**, or split your topic into several queries.
- Articles that match several of your queries are saved only once.
- If a link can't be resolved, `articleUrl` is empty and `googleNewsUrl` still works.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search on Google News. Google operators work too, for example "tesla" OR "rivian", site:reuters.com, intitle:ai.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Only news from this recent period. Ignored when 'Date from' is set.
