## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Greenhouse, Lever & Ashby Jobs Scraper + Hiring Signals

Scrape **open jobs from Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters and Recruitee job boards** and turn them into **company hiring signals**. Give the Actor a list of companies (board tokens like `stripe` or careers URLs like `https://jobs.lever.co/spotify`) and get clean, normalized job data with **salary ranges, remote flags, departments, locations, posting dates and full descriptions**. You can also get **one summary row per company** with open roles, hiring by department and location, remote share and how many roles were posted in the last 7 and 30 days.

No login, cookies or API keys are needed. The Actor reads the **public job-board APIs** that these applicant tracking systems (ATS) provide for career pages, so results are fast and reliable. A typical company takes a few seconds.

### What you get

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `company`, `boardToken`, `ats` | Company name, job-board token and ATS (greenhouse, lever, ashby, smartrecruiters, recruitee) |
| `jobId`, `title` | Posting ID and job title |
| `department`, `team` | Department and team or sub-department |
| `location`, `allLocations` | Primary location and all listed locations or offices |
| `remote`, `workplaceType` | Remote flag (boolean) and remote, hybrid or onsite when the ATS reports it |
| `employmentType` | Full-time, contract, intern and so on |
| `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`, `salaryPeriod` | Pay range when available (Ashby compensation, Lever salary range, Recruitee salary, or pay-transparency text in the description) |
| `postedAt`, `updatedAt` | ISO 8601 timestamps |
| `jobUrl`, `applyUrl` | Links to the posting and the application form |
| `descriptionText` | Plain-text description with HTML removed, up to about 5,000 characters |
| `scrapedAt` | When the row was collected |

**Company hiring-signal rows** (`type = "company"`) include `totalOpenRoles`, `matchingOpenRoles`, `rolesByDepartment`, `rolesByLocation`, `rolesByEmploymentType`, `topDepartment`, `remoteRoles`, `remoteShare`, `rolesPostedLast7Days`, `rolesPostedLast30Days`, `rolesPostedLast90Days`, `newestPostingDate`, `oldestPostingDate`, `salaryDisclosedShare` and `careersUrl`.

### Use cases

- **Sales intelligence and lead scoring.** Find companies that are hiring for the teams you sell to, such as data, security or RevOps. A sudden rise in new roles is a strong buying signal.
- **Recruiting and talent sourcing.** Monitor target companies' open roles, salary ranges and remote policy in one dataset, and get alerts when a role you care about is posted.
- **Market and competitor research.** Track hiring velocity, department mix and geographic expansion across competitors or a whole portfolio of companies.
- **Job boards and aggregators.** Feed normalized postings from five ATS platforms into your own job site or newsletter.
- **Investors and analysts.** Use headcount growth signals as alternative data for portfolio monitoring.

### Input

- **Companies:** board tokens (`stripe`, `openai`) or careers URLs. Supported URL formats:
  - Greenhouse: `boards.greenhouse.io/{company}`, `job-boards.greenhouse.io/{company}`, `...embed/job_board?for={company}`
  - Lever: `jobs.lever.co/{company}`, `jobs.eu.lever.co/{company}`
  - Ashby: `jobs.ashbyhq.com/{company}`
  - SmartRecruiters: `careers.smartrecruiters.com/{company}`, `jobs.smartrecruiters.com/{company}`
  - Recruitee: `{company}.recruitee.com`
- **ATS hint:** for plain tokens. With `auto`, the Actor tries Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters and Recruitee in that order until one returns jobs.
- **Output mode:** `jobs`, `companies` or `both`.
- **Filters:** title `keywords`, `locations`, `departments`, `remoteOnly` and `postedWithinDays`. Each list matches if the text contains any of its entries, ignoring case.
- **Limits:** `maxJobsPerCompany` (newest first) and `maxItems` (total rows, to cap cost). `includeDescriptions` can be turned off for lighter output.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "stripe",
    "https://jobs.lever.co/spotify",
    "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai"
  ],
  "outputMode": "both",
  "keywords": ["engineer", "data"],
  "locations": ["United States", "Remote"],
  "postedWithinDays": 30,
  "maxJobsPerCompany": 50
}
```

### Pricing

This Actor uses **pay per result**: you pay only for rows saved to the dataset. Each job row and each company summary row counts as one result. Use `maxItems`, `maxJobsPerCompany` and the filters to control spending. The run stops automatically when your spending limit is reached.

### Notes and limitations

- Only **publicly listed** postings are returned, which are the same jobs shown on the company's career page. Internal or unlisted roles are not included.
- Field availability depends on the ATS and the employer. For example, Greenhouse has no structured salary field, so salary is taken from pay-transparency text when it is present.
- Company summaries count **all jobs that match your filters**, not only the jobs limited by `maxJobsPerCompany`.
- For very large SmartRecruiters boards, the first 2,000 postings are scanned.
- When a plain token has no board on any supported ATS, the Actor logs a warning, skips it and charges nothing for it.
- Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters and Recruitee are trademarks of their respective owners. This Actor is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Companies to scrape. Use a job-board token (e.g. "stripe") or a careers URL such as https://boards.greenhouse.io/stripe, https://jobs.lever.co/spotify, https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai, https://careers.smartrecruiters.com/ServiceNow or https://bunq.recruitee.com. The ATS is detected from the URL; for plain tokens it is auto-detected.

## `ats` (type: `string`):

Which ATS plain board tokens belong to. "Auto-detect" tries Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters and Recruitee in that order until one returns jobs. URLs always use the ATS found in the URL.

## `outputMode` (type: `string`):

"jobs" = one row per job posting, "companies" = one hiring-signal summary row per company (open roles, departments, locations, remote share, recent postings), "both" = summary rows plus job rows.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep only jobs whose title contains any of these words (case-insensitive), e.g. "engineer", "sales". Leave empty for all jobs.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Keep only jobs whose location contains any of these strings (case-insensitive), e.g. "London", "United States", "Remote".

## `departments` (type: `array`):

Keep only jobs whose department or team contains any of these strings (case-insensitive), e.g. "Engineering", "Sales".

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only jobs flagged as remote by the ATS or with "Remote" in the location.

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Keep only jobs first published within the last N days. Leave empty for no date filter.

## `maxJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of job rows output per company (newest first). 0 = no limit. Company summaries always count all matching jobs.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of dataset rows (jobs + company summaries) for the whole run. 0 = no limit. Useful to cap cost.

## `includeDescriptions` (type: `boolean`):

Include the plain-text job description (HTML stripped, up to ~5,000 characters). Turn off for smaller, faster output.
