## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Remote Jobs Aggregator – Himalayas, Remotive, RemoteOK, Arbeitnow & We Work Remotely

**One remote jobs API for five of the biggest remote job boards.** This Actor collects fresh remote job listings from the official public feeds of **Himalayas**, **Remotive**, **RemoteOK**, **Arbeitnow** and **We Work Remotely (WWR)**, normalizes them into a single clean schema, removes cross-posted duplicates and lets you filter by keyword, category, region, salary and posting date.

No login, no API keys, no browser – just a fast, polite remote job scraper that returns structured JSON, CSV or Excel in seconds.

### What you get

Every job is returned in the same format, whatever board it came from:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `type` | Always `"job"` |
| `source` | `himalayas`, `remotive`, `remoteok`, `arbeitnow` or `weworkremotely` |
| `jobId` | ID of the job on the source board |
| `title`, `company` | Job title and company name |
| `companyUrl`, `companyLogo` | Company website / profile and logo (when the source provides them) |
| `category`, `tags[]` | Category and skill / topic tags |
| `jobType` | e.g. `full_time`, `part_time`, `contract`, `internship` |
| `locationRestriction` | Where candidates may live, e.g. `Worldwide`, `United States`, `Europe, USA, Canada` |
| `salaryMinUsd`, `salaryMaxUsd` | Salary range normalized to **annual USD** (null if unknown or in another currency) |
| `salaryRaw` | Salary exactly as published by the source |
| `postedAt` | Publication date (ISO 8601, UTC) |
| `applyUrl`, `sourceUrl` | Where to apply and the original listing on the job board |
| `descriptionText` | Job description with HTML stripped (max 4,000 characters) |
| `attribution` | e.g. `Job via RemoteOK (https://remoteok.com)` |
| `scrapedAt` | When the job was collected |

```
### Use cases
- **Remote job boards & niche job sites** – seed or refresh your board with fresh remote listings every day.
- **Job newsletters & Slack/Discord bots** – send a daily digest of "remote Python jobs paying $120k+" or "worldwide marketing jobs".
- **Recruiters & sourcers** – spot companies actively hiring remotely, by role, region and salary band.
- **Job market research** – track remote hiring trends, salary ranges, in-demand skills and categories over time.
- **Personal job search** – one feed instead of checking five boards every morning.
### Input
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `sources` | Which boards to query (default: all five) |
| `keywords` | Keep jobs whose title, company, category or tags contain **any** of these words |
| `excludeKeywords` | Drop jobs containing any of these words (e.g. `senior`, `intern`) |
| `categories` | Keep only jobs whose category / tags contain any of these (e.g. `Design`, `Marketing`, `DevOps`) |
| `regions` | Allowed locations, e.g. `Worldwide`, `USA`, `Europe`, `UK`, `Canada`, `LATAM`, `APAC`, `Germany` or any country/city |
| `minSalaryUsd` | Minimum annual USD salary (jobs without a known USD salary are excluded when set) |
| `postedWithinDays` | Only jobs posted in the last N days |
| `dedupe` | Remove the same job cross-posted on several boards (normalized company + title). Default `true` |
| `arbeitnowRemoteOnly` | Arbeitnow also lists on-site jobs; keep only remote ones (default `true`) |
| `maxItems` | Maximum number of jobs to save |
| `maxPagesPerSource` | Page limit for paginated sources (Himalayas, Arbeitnow) |
#### Example input
```json
{
  "sources": ["himalayas", "remotive", "remoteok", "arbeitnow", "weworkremotely"],
  "keywords": ["engineer", "developer", "marketing"],
  "excludeKeywords": ["intern"],
  "regions": ["Worldwide", "Europe"],
  "minSalaryUsd": 80000,
  "postedWithinDays": 30,
  "dedupe": true,
  "maxItems": 150
}
```
### How it works
- **Himalayas** – official JSON feed (`himalayas.app/jobs/api`), paginated with cursors; stops once jobs are older than `postedWithinDays`.
- **Remotive** – official public API (`remotive.com/api/remote-jobs`), called **once per run** as Remotive requests. The public feed is intentionally small and delayed ~24 h by Remotive.
- **RemoteOK** – official JSON API (`remoteok.com/api`); the legal notice element is skipped.
- **Arbeitnow** – official job board API (`arbeitnow.com/api/job-board-api`), paginated.
- **We Work Remotely** – official RSS feeds (main feed + every category feed), parsed as XML.
The Actor is polite: at most 3 concurrent requests, a browser-like User-Agent, and automatic retries with exponential backoff on rate limits and server errors. If one source is temporarily down, the others still deliver results. Results are interleaved across sources (newest first within each source), so even a small `maxItems` gives you a mix of boards.
#### Salary normalization
- Himalayas: converted only when the currency is **USD** (monthly/hourly periods annualized). Other currencies stay in `salaryRaw` only.
- Remotive: free-text salaries like `$90k - $105k` or `$45-$120/hour` are parsed when clearly in US dollars. Hourly rates are annualized at 2,080 hours/year, monthly at ×12. Anything ambiguous stays `null`.
- RemoteOK: published annual USD values are used as-is (0 = unknown → `null`).
- Arbeitnow and We Work Remotely feeds don't publish structured salaries → `null`.
No exchange rates are applied and no salaries are guessed.
#### Region matching
Regions are matched against the `locationRestriction` text with sensible aliases (`USA` also matches "United States", "North America", "Americas"; `Europe` matches "EMEA", "EU" and European countries / major cities, etc.). Any other value is matched as plain text. `Worldwide` also matches "Anywhere", "Global" and jobs with **no stated location restriction**.
### Pricing – pay per result
This Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing: you pay only for the jobs saved to the dataset. Filters are applied before saving, so you never pay for jobs you filtered out or for duplicates. Use `maxItems` to cap your spend; the run also stops automatically when your maximum charge limit is reached.
### Attribution & terms of use
All jobs come from the boards' own public feeds. Each item carries a `sourceUrl` (the original listing) and an `attribution` field. If you republish the jobs, please respect each source's terms:
- **RemoteOK** requires a link back to the job's RemoteOK URL and a mention of RemoteOK as the source – use `sourceUrl` and `attribution` ("Job via RemoteOK (https://remoteok.com)").
- **Remotive** asks you to link back to the Remotive URL and mention Remotive as the source, and does not allow submitting its jobs to third-party aggregators such as Google Jobs, LinkedIn, Jooble or Neuvoo.
- **Arbeitnow**, **Himalayas** and **We Work Remotely** appreciate a link back to the original listing.
This Actor is an independent tool and is **not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by** Himalayas, Remotive, RemoteOK, Arbeitnow or We Work Remotely. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
### Limitations
- Coverage depends on what each board publishes in its public feed (e.g. Remotive's public feed holds only a small, delayed set of jobs; WWR RSS feeds show the latest jobs per category).
- Not every source provides logos, company websites, job types or salaries – missing values are `null`.
- Deduplication is based on normalized company + title, so the same role posted for several cities may be collapsed into one when titles are identical.
### FAQ
**Do I need an account or API key?** No. All sources are public feeds.
**How often should I run it?** Once or a few times per day is plenty – the boards update hourly at most, and Remotive explicitly asks clients not to poll more than ~4 times a day.
**Can I get only worldwide jobs?** Yes – set `regions` to `["Worldwide"]`.
**Can I export to CSV / Excel / Google Sheets?** Yes, from the dataset tab or via the Apify API and integrations.
# Actor input Schema
## `sources` (type: `array`):
Job boards to collect from. Leave all selected to aggregate every source.
## `keywords` (type: `array`):
Keep jobs whose title, company, category or tags contain ANY of these words (case-insensitive substring). Leave empty to keep all jobs.
## `excludeKeywords` (type: `array`):
Drop jobs whose title, company, category or tags contain any of these words (e.g. "senior", "intern", "crypto").
## `categories` (type: `array`):
Keep only jobs whose category or tags contain any of these values, e.g. "Software Development", "Design", "Marketing", "DevOps", "Customer Support". Leave empty for all categories.
## `regions` (type: `array`):
Keep only jobs whose location restriction matches any of these, e.g. "Worldwide", "USA", "Europe", "UK", "Canada", "LATAM", "APAC", "Germany" or any country/city name. "Worldwide" also keeps jobs with no stated location restriction. Leave empty for no region filter.
## `minSalaryUsd` (type: `integer`):
Keep only jobs with a known annual USD salary whose maximum (or minimum, if no maximum) is at least this amount. Jobs without a parsable USD salary are excluded when this is set.
## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):
Keep only jobs posted in the last N days. Leave empty for no date limit.
## `dedupe` (type: `boolean`):
Remove duplicates of the same job posted on several boards (matched by normalized company + title). The first occurrence is kept.
## `arbeitnowRemoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):
Arbeitnow also lists on-site jobs (mostly in Germany). When enabled, only jobs Arbeitnow flags as remote are returned.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of jobs to save (each saved job is one billable result). Leave empty for no limit.
## `maxPagesPerSource` (type: `integer`):
Upper bound on API pages requested from paginated sources (Himalayas: 20 jobs/page, Arbeitnow: ~100-300 jobs/page). Pagination also stops automatically once jobs get older than "Posted within".
