# Dataset to Airtable — Reliable Field Mapping (`alaudinburki/dataset-to-airtable`) Actor

Export any Apify dataset into an Airtable table, mapping each field to the correct field type — with a per-item report of what mapped and what was skipped. Batched, rate-limit aware, no silent data loss.

## Pricing

from $1.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Dataset to Airtable — Reliable Field Mapping

Export any Apify dataset into an Airtable table, mapping each field to the correct field type — with a per-item report of what mapped and what was skipped. Batched, rate-limit aware, no silent data loss.

Built reliability-first: **every row reports what was found and what was missing** — you never get a
silent blank, and a run summary tells you exactly what happened.

### What you get

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `itemIndex` | Item Index |
| `status` | Status |
| `airtableRecordId` | Airtable Record Id |
| `mappedFields` | Mapped Fields |
| `skippedFields` | Skipped Fields |
| `mappedCount` | Mapped Count |
| `skippedCount` | Skipped Count |

### How to use it

1. Fill in the input (see the example below).
2. Run it once for a snapshot, or **schedule it** to keep the data fresh.
3. Export to CSV/JSON/Excel, or push straight to Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make, or n8n.

### Input

```json
{
  "apiToken": "example",
  "baseId": "EX12345",
  "tableName": "Example tableName",
  "items": [],
  "fieldMapping": {}
}
```

### Sample output

```json
[
{
  "itemIndex": 3.14,
  "status": "ok",
  "airtableRecordId": "EX12345",
  "mappedFields": "example",
  "skippedFields": "example",
  "mappedCount": 1284,
  "skippedCount": 1284
}
]
```

### Typical uses

- Schedule it and feed the output straight into your sheet, database, or app.
- Pair it with the related actors below to build a complete pipeline.

### Pricing

**$1.00 / 1,000 results** (`$0.001` per result), plus a near-zero start fee. You are **never charged beyond your limit**, and blocked or
failed items are reported honestly — not billed as data.

### FAQ & limitations

- Public data only — no login walls, no cookies required.
- Rate limits on the source may require the proxy or a retry on very large pulls.
- Every row reports its own status, so partial results are always labeled, never faked.
- **Integrations:** output works with Zapier, Make, n8n, and any webhook via Apify's integrations.
- **Formats:** results export as JSON, CSV, Excel, or HTML from the dataset.

# Actor input Schema

## `apiToken` (type: `string`):

Create at airtable.com/create/tokens with scopes data.records:write and schema.bases:read, and grant access to your base. Stored as a secret.

## `baseId` (type: `string`):

The Airtable base ID (appXXXXXXXXXXXXXX), from your base URL.

## `tableName` (type: `string`):

The target table's name (e.g. 'Leads') or its table ID (tblXXXXXXXX).

## `datasetId` (type: `string`):

The Apify dataset to export (e.g. a scraper run's defaultDatasetId). Leave empty to use inline items.

## `items` (type: `array`):

Rows to export if you have no dataset ID. Each object becomes one Airtable record.

## `fieldMapping` (type: `object`):

Map dataset fields to Airtable field names, e.g. {"soldPrice": "Price"}. Unmapped fields auto-match by name (case-insensitive).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Cap on how many dataset items to write. Leave empty to export all.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "items": [],
  "fieldMapping": {}
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

The dataset of results produced by this run.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("alaudinburki/dataset-to-airtable").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
