## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Google Play Reviews Scraper

Get Google Play reviews as clean data: **star rating, review text, likes, app version, date and the developer's reply**, plus an **app details** row with the rating histogram, installs, price, last update and the developer's email and website.

Built for app teams, ASO and market research: track what users complain about, compare competitors, monitor new reviews on a schedule, or feed reviews into an LLM for sentiment and feature requests.

#### Why this scraper

- **Many apps at once**: paste app IDs or Play Store links, or just type a keyword ("budget tracker") and it takes the top apps from Google Play search.
- **Several countries in one run**, merged and de-duplicated.
- **Star filter**: e.g. only 1 and 2 star reviews to collect complaints.
- **Date cut-off**: only reviews since a given day.
- **New reviews only**: for scheduled runs it remembers which reviews you already got and returns only new ones, so a daily schedule gives you a clean feed of fresh reviews.
- **Developer replies included**, with reply date.
- **Cheap**: $0.10 per 1,000 reviews, $0.001 per app details row.

#### Output

Review row:

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "appId": "com.whatsapp",
  "appTitle": "WhatsApp Messenger",
  "rating": 1,
  "text": "Since the last update I can't send voice messages...",
  "thumbsUp": 12,
  "appVersion": "2.26.26.73",
  "date": "2026-10-02T09:21:18+00:00",
  "replyText": "Hi, sorry about that. Please contact us at ...",
  "replyDate": "2026-10-02T15:03:11+00:00",
  "userName": "Jane D.",
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en",
  "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp&reviewId=..."
}
```

App details row (`"type": "app"`): title, summary, developer, developerEmail, developerWebsite, developerAddress, genre, score, ratings, reviews, histogram (1 to 5 stars), installs, realInstalls, price, free, offersIAP, containsAds, contentRating, released, updated, version, icon, url, description.

The Output tab has two tables, **Reviews** and **App details**; download them as Excel, CSV or JSON.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "apps": ["com.whatsapp", "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.telegram.messenger"],
  "searchTerms": ["habit tracker"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
  "stars": ["1", "2"],
  "since": "2026-09-01",
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "language": "en"
}
```

#### Tips

- **Language matters more than country**: Google Play returns reviews written in the selected language. To get German reviews, set `language` to `de` (and `countries` to `de`, `at`, `ch`).
- **Monitoring**: turn on *Only reviews not seen in previous runs*, keep *Sort* on *Newest first* and add a daily or hourly schedule. Each run returns only reviews that appeared since the last one.
- **All reviews**: set *Max reviews per app* to 0. Popular apps have hundreds of thousands of reviews, so combine it with *Reviews since*.

#### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.10 per 1,000 reviews** and **$0.001 per app details row**. No subscription; you pay only for rows you get.

#### Use from code

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("alex9080/google-play-reviews-scraper").call(run_input={
    "apps": ["com.spotify.music"], "maxReviewsPerApp": 1000, "stars": ["1"],
})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    if item["type"] == "review":
        print(item["rating"], item["text"])
```

Works with Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets and AI agents through the Apify API and MCP server.

#### FAQ

**Does it need a Google account or API key?** No. It reads the public Play Store.

**Can I get reviews for apps that are not available in my country?** Use the country where the app is published in *Countries*.

**Is it legal?** It collects publicly visible reviews. Personal data such as reviewer names may be protected by laws like GDPR; use the data responsibly and only for legitimate purposes.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Google Play app IDs (com.whatsapp) or app page URLs (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp). Give apps, searchTerms, or both.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Search Google Play and scrape the top apps for each keyword, e.g. "budget tracker".

## `appsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

How many top search results to take for each keyword.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

0 = all available reviews.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Newest first is required for the date cut-off and new-only mode to stop early.

## `stars` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for all ratings. Example: 1 and 2 for complaints only.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Skip reviews older than this date (YYYY-MM-DD).

## `onlyNewReviews` (type: `boolean`):

For scheduled monitoring: remembers review IDs between runs (in your own storage) and returns only new ones.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter country codes. Reviews from all of them are merged and de-duplicated.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Two-letter language code: Google Play returns reviews written in this language (en, de, fr, es, pt, uk, ...).

## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):

One extra row per app: rating, histogram, installs, price, developer email and website, last update.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed normally. Turn on if Google starts rate-limiting large runs.
