## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Scraper: Reviews, App Details & Top Charts

Collect Apple App Store data for **iPhone, iPad and Mac apps** in **150+ countries**, straight from Apple's public feeds. No Apple account, API key or browser needed.

One Actor, four jobs:

| Mode | What you get |
|---|---|
| **Reviews** | Star rating, title, full text, app version, date, helpful votes and reviewer nickname for any app |
| **App details** | 35+ fields: rating and rating count (overall and current version), price, version, release notes, size, category, languages, screenshots, developer |
| **Search results** | The apps returned for any keyword, in order, with a `searchRank` for each |
| **Top charts** | Top free, paid and grossing charts by country and category, optionally with each app's rating and rating count |

### Why use this one

- **Monitor mode for reviews.** Turn on *Only new reviews since the last run* and schedule the Actor daily. It remembers the newest review it saw for every app and country, returns only what's new, and you pay only for new reviews.
- **Mac App Store included.** Reviews, details and search work for Mac apps too, not just iPhone.
- **Every storefront in one run.** Enter `all` under Countries to cover 150+ App Store countries. Each country has its own reviews and charts.
- **Complaint mining.** Set *Maximum star rating* to 2 to collect only 1- and 2-star reviews.
- **Clean, flat output.** One row per review, app or chart entry, ready for Excel, Google Sheets, a database or an AI pipeline.

### How to use it

1. Choose **What to scrape**.
2. Add **Apps** (for Reviews and App details), **Search terms** (for Search) or pick a **Chart**.
3. Add **Countries** (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `jp`… or `all`).
4. Click **Start**, then download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or fetch them through the Apify API.

Apps can be given in any of these forms:

  "currency": "USD",
  "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chatgpt/id6448311069"
}
```
**App** items include `appId`, `bundleId`, `name`, `platform`, `developer`, `price`, `rating`, `ratingCount`, `ratingCurrentVersion`, `version`, `currentVersionReleaseDate`, `releaseNotes`, `description`, `primaryGenre`, `contentRating`, `minimumOsVersion`, `fileSizeMB`, `languages`, `iconUrl`, `screenshotUrls` and more. Search results also carry `searchTerm` and `searchRank`.
### Pricing
Pay only for results:
| Result | Price |
|---|---|
| Review | $1.00 per 1,000 |
| App details or search result | $4.00 per 1,000 |
| Chart entry | $2.00 per 1,000 (plus the app-details price for each entry when you add ratings) |
For example, 1,000 reviews of one app cost $1.00, and a daily monitor pays only for the new reviews it finds: $1.00 per 1,000. Set a maximum spend per run in the run options and the Actor stops cleanly when it's reached.
### Limits to know about
These come from Apple's public feeds, not from this Actor:
- **Reviews:** up to 500 per app, per country, per order (10 pages of 50). Choose *Both* orders to reach up to 1,000 per country, or add more countries for more. Apps with fewer reviews return what exists.
- **Charts:** up to 100 apps per chart. Apple sometimes returns empty Mac paid and grossing charts.
- **Search:** up to 200 apps per term and country. The order comes from Apple's search API, which is close to, but not always identical to, what the App Store app shows.
- **Mac star ratings:** Apple's public feed doesn't expose the overall star rating for most Mac-only apps, so `rating` and `ratingCount` are empty for them. Mac reviews still work.
- Ratings-only (no text) reviews are not included in Apple's review feed.
- **Empty feeds:** Apple's most-recent review feed occasionally comes back empty. The Actor asks again, and if it is still empty it reads the most-helpful order instead and says so in the log.
### FAQ
**Do I need an Apple account or developer account?** No. Everything comes from Apple's public endpoints.
**Can I get reviews for my own app automatically every day?** Yes. Turn on monitor mode, then create a schedule in Apify Console. Connect the dataset to Slack, Google Sheets, Zapier or Make to get new reviews where your team works.
**Why did a run stop early?** Either the max items or max spend you set was reached. The log says which.
**Is it legal to scrape App Store data?** This Actor reads publicly available data from Apple's public endpoints and doesn't log in or bypass any protection. Reviews include public reviewer nicknames, which may count as personal data in some jurisdictions (for example under GDPR); turn off *Include reviewer nicknames* if you don't need them, and make sure your use complies with the laws that apply to you.
### Feedback
Found a bug or need a field that's missing? Open an issue on the Actor's **Issues** tab and it will be looked at quickly.
# Actor input Schema
## `mode` (type: `string`):
Reviews of specific apps, full details of specific apps, App Store search results, or the top charts.
## `apps` (type: `array`):
For Reviews and App details. Paste App Store links (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/.../id123456789), numeric app IDs (123456789) or bundle IDs (com.example.app). iPhone, iPad and Mac apps all work.
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
For Search results. Each term returns apps in the order Apple's search API ranks them, with a searchRank field.
## `platform` (type: `string`):
Which store to search or which charts to read. Reviews and App details work for any app regardless of this setting.
## `countries` (type: `array`):
Two-letter App Store country codes such as us, gb, de, jp. Enter all to cover every storefront (150+). Each country has its own reviews, ratings and charts. If left empty, the country in each app link is used, otherwise us.
## `reviewSort` (type: `string`):
Apple returns up to 500 reviews per app, country and order. Choose Both to collect up to 1,000 per country (duplicates are removed).
## `maxReviewsPerAppPerCountry` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many reviews for each app in each country.
## `onlyNewReviews` (type: `boolean`):
Remembers the newest review seen for each app and country, and on later runs returns only reviews posted after it. Schedule the Actor daily to get a feed of new reviews and pay only for those.
## `minRating` (type: `integer`):
Keep only reviews with at least this many stars. For example, set Maximum to 2 to collect only complaints.
## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):
Keep only reviews with at most this many stars.
## `includeReviewerNames` (type: `boolean`):
Turn off to leave out reviewer nicknames and profile links.
## `maxResultsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):
Apple's search API returns at most 200 apps per term and country.
## `chart` (type: `string`):
Which top chart to read. Apple sometimes returns empty Mac paid and grossing charts.
## `genreIds` (type: `array`):
Limit charts to App Store categories, e.g. 6007 Productivity, 6014 Games, 6013 Health & Fitness, 6015 Finance, 6026 Developer Tools. Leave empty for the overall chart.
## `chartLimit` (type: `integer`):
Apple returns at most 100 apps per chart.
## `enrichChartsWithDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Looks up each charted app to add star rating, rating count, version and size. Charged as an app detail per entry.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Stop the run after saving this many items. Leave empty for no limit.
## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):
Lower this if you see many rate-limit retries in the log.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Not needed for most runs. Use Apify Proxy for very large jobs (for example all countries for many apps) if Apple starts rate-limiting.
