## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper – Official Apple RSS / iTunes Feed, ~1,000 per country

Get **iOS App Store reviews** for any app from **Apple’s own public customer-review RSS/JSON feed and the iTunes Lookup API**: rating, title, text, app version, date, country, helpfulness votes, plus app name, developer and overall rating. No HTML scraping, no login, no proxies, no captchas — runs are fast and rarely break.

**Also known as:** App Store review RSS scraper, Apple customer reviews API wrapper, iTunes reviews feed exporter (45+ storefronts).

### Who is this for

- **Product / UX teams** – pull 1–2★ complaints after each release (`maxRating: 2`, filter by `appVersion`).
- **ASO and marketing agencies** – weekly multi-country review exports to Google Sheets, Slack or BI.
- **Competitor researchers** – compare review themes of rival apps across US/EU storefronts.
- **AI / sentiment pipelines** – clean JSON/CSV ready for LLM summarisation.

### Why this one

Common pain points with App Store review tools, and how this actor handles them:

- **"Only 500 reviews per country."** Apple’s feed caps each sort at ~500. Combining *most recent* + *most helpful* (deduplicated) yields **up to ~1,000 unique reviews per country** (Spotify test: 1,000 US, 1,000 GB, 988 PL).
- **"I have to look up numeric IDs."** Paste an App Store URL, numeric ID **or bundle ID** (`com.spotify.client`).
- **"One country at a time."** List countries, or `["all"]` for 47 major storefronts (fetched in parallel).
- **"I pay for reviews I don’t need."** Filter by stars, keywords and `since` **before** charge; `maxReviewsPerApp` caps cost.
- **"It returned 0 reviews with a green checkmark."** Apple often returns valid but empty pages (“holes”). This actor scans the full page range, retries empty pages with a second client/URL form, tags `sortUsed`, and if Apple returns nothing you pay nothing.
- **"Runs fail randomly."** Retries with back-off; unknown apps are skipped with a warning.
- **"Missing app context."** Every row includes app name, developer, average rating and rating count.

### Input examples by buyer type

Product team – recent 1–2★ complaints for one app (cheap sample):

```json
{"apps": ["com.spotify.client"], "countries": ["us"], "maxRating": 2, "maxReviewsPerApp": 20, "maxPagesPerCountry": 2}
```

ASO agency – three markets, Facebook + Spotify, since last month:

```json
{"apps": ["com.spotify.client", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/facebook/id284882215"], "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"], "maxRating": 2, "since": "2026-09-01"}
```

Sentiment pipeline – one country, full recent+helpful sweep, hard cap:

```json
{"apps": ["324684580"], "countries": ["pl"], "includeMostHelpful": true, "maxReviewsPerApp": 500}
```

### Output example

```json
{"reviewId": "14661876090", "appId": "284882215", "country": "us", "rating": 1, "title": "…", "text": "…", "appVersion": "582.0.0", "userName": "…", "date": "2026-10-13T07:16:48-07:00", "voteSum": 0, "voteCount": 0, "appName": "Facebook", "developer": "Meta Platforms, Inc.", "appAverageRating": 4.2, "appRatingCount": 12345678}
```

### Limits (honest)

Apple’s public feed only exposes the most recent and most helpful reviews (up to about 500 each per country). Older reviews beyond that can’t be fetched by any feed-based tool. Use `since` with a daily or weekly schedule to build a complete history going forward.
