## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## EU VIES VAT Number Checker – bulk validation of EU VAT IDs

Validate any number of **EU VAT identification numbers** against the official **VIES** (VAT Information Exchange System) of the European Commission. For every number you get whether it is **valid for intra-community transactions**, plus the registered **company name and address** (where the member state publishes them).

### Use cases

- Verify customers before issuing **0% intra-community (reverse charge) invoices**
- Clean and enrich B2B customer databases / CRM
- E-commerce & SaaS checkout VAT validation, KYC and supplier onboarding

Supports all EU member states: AT, BE, BG, CY, CZ, DE, DK, EE, EL (Greece), ES, FI, FR, HR, HU, IE, IT, LT, LU, LV, MT, NL, PL, PT, RO, SE, SI, SK and XI (Northern Ireland).

### Input

```json
{ "vatNumbers": ["PL7740001454", "DE811569869", "FR40303265045"] }
```

### Output

```json
{
  "input": { "vatNumber": "PL7740001454" },
  "success": true,
  "countryCode": "PL",
  "vatNumber": "7740001454",
  "valid": true,
  "status": "VALID",
  "name": "ORLEN SPÓŁKA AKCYJNA",
  "address": "CHEMIKÓW 7, 09-411 PŁOCK",
  "requestDate": "2026-10-12T12:50:57.434Z",
  "checkedAt": "2026-10-12T12:50:57.500Z"
}
```

An invalid number is still a successful check (`valid: false`). Malformed input or a member-state service outage returns `success: false` (not charged) – just re-run those items later.

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$5 per 1,000 successful results** ($0.005 per checked company). Failed lookups (invalid number, not found) are returned in the dataset with `success: false` and are **not charged**. Apify platform usage is included in the price.

### Data source & reliability

Data is fetched live from official Polish/EU registries through the [pl-firmy API](https://api.almmity.com) (Almmity), which adds batching, caching and retries so you do not hit the Ministry of Finance limit of ~100 searches per day per IP. Need it inside an AI assistant? The same checks are available as a remote MCP server at `https://api.almmity.com/mcp`.

### Integrations

Run it from the Apify API, schedule it daily, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets or webhooks. Export results as JSON, CSV or Excel.

### Support

Questions or custom needs: contact@almmity.com. This actor is not affiliated with the Polish Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice or the European Commission; it uses their public data.
