## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Compare a supplier's original and revised Excel quote

Before you approve a purchase order, check **which supplier prices changed, which quantities changed, and what the revision does to the order total**. Upload the original and revised XLSX quotes. The report matches lines by SKU (or unique item name), lists added and removed items, and gives the row numbers behind each difference. English and Chinese column headers are supported.

**Price:** USD 0.20 for one completed comparison, including every changed row. A comparison of identical quotes also returns a report. You can inspect the [worked example and full JSON output](https://github.com/es-dra/supplier-quote-comparison-excel/blob/main/examples/report.json) before running the Actor.

### Example: the supplier cut a price. Why did the quote rise by CNY 35?

In RFQ-1042, the sensor price fell, but the vendor also changed the order quantities and replaced a line item. The original total was **CNY 430.00**; the revised total is **CNY 465.00**.

| SKU | What changed | Original → revised row | Cost impact (CNY) |
| --- | --- | --- | ---: |
| A · Connector | 10 → 12 units at 20 each | 3 → 3 | +40.00 |
| B · Sensor | 50 → 45 per unit, quantity 4 | 4 → 4 | −20.00 |
| C · Bracket | Removed 2 at 15 | 5 → — | −30.00 |
| D · Sleeve | Added 3 at 15 | — → 5 | +45.00 |

Row 5 looks like one edit if you compare cells by position. Matching by SKU shows that a bracket was removed and a sleeve added. A buyer can now ask whether the extra connectors and the substitution were approved.

[Download both sample quotations and the expected report](https://github.com/es-dra/supplier-quote-comparison-excel/releases/download/v1.0/quote-comparison-example.zip). To reproduce the example on Apify, leave both uploads empty, select **Use the example**, then run and open **Output**. The same per-report price applies.

### Compare your own two quotes

1. In **Original XLSX quote**, upload the earlier file to a new private quote-only store. In **Revised XLSX quote**, upload the new file to the same existing store.
2. Under **Private quote stores (read only)** select that store. If the uploads are in different stores, select both. For API input you can also supply signed Apify key-value record URLs.
3. Start the run and open **Output**. The JSON report contains the old and new totals, net difference, and each changed item's quantities, unit prices, amounts and worksheet rows.

Use one sheet per file with a unique SKU or item name, quantity and unit price. Headers must be in the first 20 rows. Optional columns include unit and currency. Chinese headers include 物料编码、品名、数量、单价、币种、单位. Each file supports up to 4 MB and 1,000 items. Duplicate keys stop the run so you can fix the source sheet.

Use the same currency, units and tax treatment in both quotes. Each line is quantity × unit price rounded half-up to two decimals. Freight, discounts and tax affect the result only when expressed as item rows. Formulas require cached values saved by Excel. A renamed item without a stable SKU appears as one removal and one addition.

# Actor input Schema

## `oldQuote` (type: `string`):

Upload the original single-sheet workbook. Maximum 4 MB.

## `newQuote` (type: `string`):

Upload the revised quote, in the same currency and tax basis. Maximum 4 MB.

## `useSample` (type: `boolean`):

Runs two fictitious quotes, with an expected CNY 35.00 increase. When both uploads are present they take priority. A single upload is rejected.

## `privateQuoteStores` (type: `array`):

After uploading both files, select the store(s) containing them. Easiest: upload the first file to a new store, upload the second to that same existing store, then select it here. Public or signed record URLs do not need this field.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
