## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Mexico Supermarket Prices – Chedraui + Soriana

Search any grocery product on **Chedraui** and **Soriana**, two of the largest supermarket chains in Mexico, and get **current price, list price, discount, availability, EAN barcode, brand, image and URL** in one clean dataset. Built for price monitoring, basket comparisons, inflation tracking and e-commerce research in Mexico.

No browser, no login, no API key. Pay only for the products you receive.

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `store` | `chedraui` or `soriana` |
| `query` | the search term that produced the product |
| `productId`, `sku` | store identifiers |
| `name` | `Leche UHT Lala Deslactosada 1 Litro 6 Piezas` |
| `brand` | `Lala` (Chedraui; Soriana does not expose it in search) |
| `ean` | `7501020565997` (Chedraui) |
| `price` | current selling price in MXN |
| `listPrice` | price before discount |
| `discountPct` | `28.7` or `null` |
| `available` | `true`/`false` |
| `unit` | `1 un`, `1 kg` (Chedraui) |
| `category` | `Supermercado > Lacteos y huevo > Leche` |
| `promotions` | `["Aplica cupón", "Puntos dobles..."]` (Soriana) |
| `url`, `image`, `currency`, `scrapedAt` | |

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **Search terms** — generic (`leche`, `huevo`, `arroz`) or specific (`Coca Cola 2.5 L`, `aceite Nutrioli 1 litro`).
2. Pick the **Supermarkets**.
3. Set **Maximum products per search term and store** (results come in the store's relevance order, so the first ones are the best matches).
4. Run, then download JSON / CSV / Excel or read the dataset from the API. Schedule it daily or weekly to build a price history.

### Example input

```json
{
  "queries": ["leche", "huevo", "aceite 1 litro"],
  "stores": ["chedraui", "soriana"],
  "maxItemsPerQuery": 50
}
```

### Example output

```json
{
  "store": "chedraui",
  "query": "leche",
  "productId": "3894420",
  "name": "Leche Condensada La Lechera 2 Piezas 956 g",
  "brand": "La Lechera",
  "ean": "7506475128346",
  "price": 49.9,
  "listPrice": 70.0,
  "discountPct": 28.7,
  "currency": "MXN",
  "available": true,
  "unit": "1 un",
  "category": "Supermercado > Lacteos y huevo > Leche",
  "url": "https://www.chedraui.com.mx/leche-condensada-la-lechera-2-piezas-956-g-3894420/p",
  "image": "https://chedrauimx.vtexassets.com/arquivos/ids/77567080/7506475128346_00.jpg",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-26T01:41:10+00:00"
}
```

### Use cases

- **Price monitoring** for brands and distributors: see when a retailer discounts your product or a competitor's.
- **Basket / inflation tracking**: the same list of products every week, exported to a spreadsheet.
- **Shoppers and deal sites**: find the cheapest store for a list of items.
- **Market research and AI agents**: structured catalog data with barcodes for matching across retailers.

### Pricing and performance

Pay-per-event: one `result` event per product saved; the residential proxy Soriana requires is included in the price. Chedraui returns 50 products per request and Soriana 24, so 1,000 products take well under a minute.

### Limitations

- Prices are the national online prices shown without a store selected; local in-store prices can differ.
- Soriana's search does not expose brand or EAN; match products by name or by the product page URL.
- Walmart México, Bodega Aurrera and HEB protect their sites with anti-bot systems and are not included.
- This Actor reads public pages. Respect each retailer's terms and local law when using the data.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Products to search for, one per line, e.g. `leche`, `huevo`, `aceite 1 litro`, `Coca Cola 2.5`.

## `stores` (type: `array`):

Which chains to search.

## `maxItemsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Results are returned in the store's own relevance order, so the first ones are the best matches.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap for the whole run. Leave empty to use terms × stores × per-term limit.

## `proxy` (type: `object`):

Soriana blocks datacenter IPs (Cloudflare), so the default is Apify residential proxy located in Mexico. Chedraui works with any proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "leche",
    "huevo"
  ],
  "stores": [
    "chedraui",
    "soriana"
  ],
  "maxItemsPerQuery": 50,
  "proxy": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": [
      "RESIDENTIAL"
    ],
    "apifyProxyCountry": "MX"
  }
}
