## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Scraper – Channel Videos, Shorts & Search

Get every video, Short and past live stream from any YouTube channel, or the results of any YouTube search, as clean rows. Each row has the title, views, duration, publish date, thumbnail and channel.

Turn on **full details** to also get exact view counts, likes, comment counts, the full description and hashtags.

No YouTube API key, no quota, no login.

### What you get

#### Per video, Short or stream

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `title`, `url`, `videoId`, `type` | `video`, `short` or `live` |
| `views`, `viewsText` | View count |
| `durationText`, `durationSeconds` | Length |
| `publishedText`, `publishedAtApprox` | "3 days ago" as shown on YouTube, and the approximate date |
| `thumbnailUrl` | Largest thumbnail |
| `channelName`, `channelId`, `channelUrl`, `channelVerified` | Who published it |
| `badges`, `descriptionSnippet` | 4K, CC, New … and the text YouTube shows in search |
| `source`, `position` | Which channel tab or search found it, and its rank |

#### With full video details

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `views` | Exact view count |
| `likes` | Like count |
| `commentCount` | Number of comments |
| `description` | Full description |
| `hashtags` | Hashtags used in the description |
| `publishDateText` | Publish date |
| `channelSubscribers` | The channel's subscriber count |

#### Per channel (free)

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `subscribers`, `videoCount` | Channel size |
| `handle` | The channel's @handle |
| `description`, `keywords` | What the channel says about itself |
| `emailsInDescription` | Business emails the creator published in the channel description |
| `avatarUrl` | Channel picture |

### Input

```json
{
  "channels": ["@mkbhd", "https://www.youtube.com/@LinusTechTips"],
  "channelTabs": ["videos", "shorts"],
  "searchQueries": ["iphone 17 review"],
  "maxResults": 200,
  "maxAgeDays": 30,
  "includeVideoDetails": true
}
```

- **Channels**: use a handle, a link or a channel id.
- **Channel tabs**: `videos`, `shorts`, `streams`.
- **Search**: sort by relevance, upload date, views or rating.
- **Filters**:
  - Only the last N days. On channels, the run stops as soon as it reaches older uploads, so you don't pay for them.
  - A minimum view count.
  - Only videos, only Shorts, or only live streams.

### Common uses

- **Competitor and creator tracking.** Get every new upload and its views, on a daily schedule.
- **Influencer research.** Build a list of channels with subscribers, upload frequency and business emails.
- **Trend and content research.** See the top videos and Shorts for any keyword.
- **Datasets.** Titles, descriptions and engagement numbers for analysis or AI.

### Pairs well with

**[YouTube Comments Scraper](https://apify.com/anatolia-data/youtube-comments-scraper)**: once you have the videos, pull their comments and replies.

### Notes and limits

- View counts in channel lists are rounded by YouTube ("1.2M"). Turn on full details for exact numbers.
- Dates on YouTube are relative ("2 weeks ago"). `publishedAtApprox` converts them to an approximate date.
- Only public videos are collected. The scraper never logs in.
- This is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to YouTube or Google.

### Pricing

You pay per video returned. Full details are a separate event, charged only when you turn them on. Channel info rows and status rows are free. You can cap spend per run with **Max cost per run** in the Apify Console.

### Support

Something missing or wrong? Open an issue on the **Issues** tab with the input you used and the run ID.
