## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Reviews Scraper — App Store + Google Play in one run

Get **iOS App Store and Google Play reviews together**, in one run and one clean table. Paste app links, ids or just app names, pick countries, and you get every review with stars, title, text, app version, date, helpful votes and the developer's reply. Each app also gets a **free-to-read insight summary**: rating trend, ratings by version and the words that show up most in 1-2 star reviews.

No browser and no proxy, so runs are fast and cheap: about 1,500 reviews in ~10 seconds.

### Why this one

- **Both stores, one schema.** You don't need two actors and two scripts to merge. `store` tells you where each review came from.
- **Monitoring-friendly.** Set `sinceDate` with "Newest first" and the run stops as soon as it reaches older reviews. Daily or weekly schedules cost cents.
- **Complaints, not noise.** The summary lists terms that are typical of negative reviews and rare in positive ones (e.g. `login`, `free trial`, `refund`), so app names and generic words drop out on their own.
- **Filters**: min/max stars, keywords, countries, language.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `apps` | `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id324684580`, `com.spotify.music`, `324684580` | Mix stores freely. A country in an App Store URL wins over `countries`. |
| `searchTerms` | `duolingo` | Top result in each selected store (`store`: both / apple / google). |
| `countries` | `["us","gb","de"]` | App Store reviews are per country; add more countries for more iOS reviews. |
| `language` | `en` | Google Play review language. |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | `200` | Per app and country. |
| `sort` | `newest` | `newest`, `relevance`, `rating` (Google Play). |
| `sinceDate` | `2026-10-01` | Only newer reviews. |
| `minRating` / `maxRating` | `1` / `2` | E.g. complaints only. |
| `keywords` | `["crash","subscription"]` | Title or text must contain one of them. |
| `includeSummary` | `true` | Adds one `app-summary` record per app and country. |

### Output

Review record (`type: "review"`):

```json
{
  "type": "review", "store": "apple", "appId": "324684580", "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "country": "us", "reviewId": "14673619893", "rating": 1, "title": "Gross", "text": "Too many commercials",
  "version": "9.1.90", "date": "2026-10-16T14:17:54.000Z", "userName": "UmasterU", "helpfulVotes": 0,
  "developerReply": null, "developerReplyDate": null, "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id324684580?see-all=reviews"
}
```

Summary record (`type: "app-summary"`): `storeRating`, `storeRatingCount`, `currentVersion`, `sampleSize`, `sampleAvgRating`, `ratingDistribution`, `negativeShare`, `avgRatingLast30Days`, `avgRatingPrev30Days`, `developerReplyRate` (Google Play), `versions[]` (reviews and average stars per version), `topComplaints[]`, `topPraise[]`.

The dataset has two views: **Reviews** and **App summaries**. Export to JSON, CSV, Excel, or pull it via API / Make / Zapier / n8n.

### Limits (honest)

- App Store publishes at most the **500 most recent reviews per country** through its public feed. Add countries to go wider.
- Google Play reviews depend on **language**, not country, so a Google Play app is fetched once per run, not once per country (you are never charged twice for the same review).
- Only public data is collected: what anyone sees in the store.

### Pricing

Pay per event: you pay per review saved and per app summary. No monthly fee, no platform rental.

### Use cases

Competitor monitoring, product feedback mining, release QA (did the new version tank the rating?), ASO research, feeding reviews to an LLM or a BI dashboard.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store or Google Play links, Apple numeric ids or Play package names. Mix both stores freely, e.g. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music, 324684580, com.spotify.music. A country in an App Store URL (/us/, /de/) overrides the Countries field for that app.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

App names, e.g. 'duolingo', 'notion'. The top store result for each name is used, in each store selected below.

## `store` (type: `string`):

Which store(s) to look up the names in. Apps given by URL/id always use their own store.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

2-letter country codes, e.g. us, gb, de, tr, br. App Store reviews are separate per country, so add several countries to get more iOS reviews.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language of Google Play reviews, e.g. en, de, tr, es.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many reviews for each app in each country. App Store gives up to 500 most recent reviews per country.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Order in which reviews are collected. 'Newest first' works with 'Only reviews since'.

## `sinceDate` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. With 'Newest first' the run stops as soon as older reviews start, so daily monitoring runs are cheap.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep only reviews with at least this many stars (1-5).

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep only reviews with at most this many stars, e.g. 2 to collect complaints only.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep only reviews whose title or text contains any of these words, e.g. crash, login, subscription.

## `includeSummary` (type: `boolean`):

One extra record per app and country (type = app-summary): store rating, rating trend last 30 vs previous 30 days, ratings by version, negative share, developer reply rate, top complaint and praise terms.
