## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper & Monitor

Type keywords, get the latest Google News articles about them: headline, real publisher URL, source, publish time and snippet, in any language and country edition. Add topic sections (Top stories, Business, Technology ...) and, if you want, the full article text.

Built for monitoring: run it on a schedule with a `timeWindow` of `24h`, and each run gives you yesterday's coverage of your brand, competitors, clients or sector, ready for a Slack digest, a spreadsheet or an LLM summary.

### What you get

One row per article:

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `query` or `topic` | `Apify` or `TECHNOLOGY` |
| `title` | `Apify launches agentic payments` |
| `url`, `domain` | `https://techcrunch.com/2026/...`, `techcrunch.com` |
| `source`, `sourceUrl` | `TechCrunch`, `https://techcrunch.com` |
| `publishedAt` | `2026-10-25T14:03:11+00:00` |
| `snippet` | the short description Google shows |
| `googleNewsUrl`, `guid` | the original redirect link and feed id |
| `language`, `country` | `en`, `GB` |
| with `fetchArticleText`: `text`, `wordCount`, `author`, `description`, `image`, `siteName` | |

### Input

| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `queries` | | Keyword searches, one per line. Google News syntax works: `"exact phrase"`, `OR`, `-exclude`, `site:bbc.co.uk`, `intitle:`. |
| `topics` | | Headline sections: TOP, WORLD, NATION, BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS, SCIENCE, HEALTH. |
| `timeWindow` | | `1h`, `12h`, `24h`, `7d`, `30d`. Keyword searches only. |
| `language`, `country` | `en`, `US` | Which Google News edition to read, e.g. `th` + `TH` for Thai news, `de` + `DE` for German. |
| `maxItemsPerFeed` | 100 | Google returns at most 100 per feed. |
| `resolveUrls` | true | Decode Google's redirect links into the real article URL and domain. |
| `fetchArticleText` | false | Download and extract the article body, author, description and image. |
| `dedupe` | true | An article matched by several keywords is returned once. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Apify Proxy on | Used for retries and link resolution. |

Example: everything about two competitors in the UK edition over the last day, with full text.

```json
{
  "queries": ["Bright Data", "Zyte"],
  "timeWindow": "24h",
  "language": "en",
  "country": "GB",
  "fetchArticleText": true
}
```

### Pricing

You pay per article returned. Feed fetches, duplicates and failed feeds are free. With `fetchArticleText` on, each article whose body was actually extracted adds one full-text event; articles where the publisher returned nothing are not charged for text.

### Typical uses

- Brand and competitor monitoring on a daily schedule, piped to Slack, email or a sheet through Apify integrations.
- Media lists: which outlets cover a topic, how often, with the publisher domain on every row.
- Research corpora: pull a month of coverage on a theme as clean text for an LLM.
- Local-language monitoring: Thai, Japanese, German or Spanish editions by switching `language` and `country`.

### Notes and limits

- Google News returns the 100 most recent matches per feed. Use several specific keywords or a time window rather than one broad query when you need depth.
- `publishedAt` is Google's timestamp for the item, usually within minutes of publication.
- Article text comes from the publisher page. Paywalled or heavily scripted sites may return a short or empty `text`; the row still has the headline, URL and snippet.
- Link resolution calls Google once per article. Very large runs are paced automatically.

### Support

Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab with the keyword and the row you expected to see.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One search per line. Google News search syntax works: quotes for exact phrases, OR, minus to exclude, site:bbc.co.uk, intitle:. Each query returns up to 100 of the latest matching articles.

## `topics` (type: `array`):

Optional. Google News headline sections to pull in addition to keywords.

## `timeWindow` (type: `string`):

Only articles from the last N hours or days, written as 1h, 12h, 24h, 7d, 30d. Applies to keyword searches. Leave empty for Google's default (most recent).

## `language` (type: `string`):

Google News edition language, e.g. en, en-GB, de, fr, th, ja.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter edition country, e.g. US, GB, DE, TH.

## `maxItemsPerFeed` (type: `integer`):

Google News feeds return at most 100 items each.

## `resolveUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Google News links are redirect tokens. On by default: each link is decoded to the real article URL and its domain.

## `fetchArticleText` (type: `boolean`):

Download each resolved article and extract the main text, author, description and image. Slower; off by default. Paywalled sites return little or no text.

## `dedupe` (type: `boolean`):

The same article matched by two keywords is returned once.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy is on by default and is used for retries and URL resolution. Leave it on unless you supply your own proxies.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "Apify",
    "\"web scraping\" AI agents"
  ],
