# Glassdoor Company Reviews & Salaries Scraper (`antishock/glassdoor-company-reviews-scraper`) Actor

Extract Glassdoor company reviews and salary data by company name or URL: overall rating, review text, and visible salary rows. Uses a real browser behind Apify's UNBLOCKER proxy to get past Glassdoor's anti-bot edge. Only collects what Glassdoor shows without logging in.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Glassdoor Company Reviews & Salaries Scraper

Extract **Glassdoor company reviews and salary data** by company name or Glassdoor URL: overall
rating, review title and text, and the salary rows Glassdoor shows without logging in.

### What you get per record

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `company` | Apple |
| `recordType` | rating / review / salary |
| `overallRating`, `reviewCount` | rating records only, when Glassdoor publishes one |
| `reviewTitle`, `reviewText`, `rating`, `author`, `date` | review records only |
| `jobTitle`, `salariesSubmitted`, `payRange`, `salaryText` | salary records only |
| `sourceUrl` | the Glassdoor page the record came from |
| `scrapedAt` | 2026-10-01T12:00:00.000Z |

### Input

- **companies** - company name (e.g. `Apple`) or a direct Glassdoor Reviews/Salary/Overview URL
- **maxReviewsPerCompany** - how many reviews to save per company (default 5)
- **includeSalaries** - also visit the company's Glassdoor salary page (default on)

### Example input

```json
{
  "companies": ["Apple"],
  "maxReviewsPerCompany": 5,
  "includeSalaries": true
}
```

### Use cases

- **Employer branding** - see what your own reviews and ratings look like publicly
- **Competitive benchmarking** - compare ratings against other employers
- **Recruiting prep** - check a target company's reputation before a job offer
- **Salary research** - gauge what a role pays before negotiating
- **Market research** - sentiment on an acquisition or partner candidate

### Why this needs scraping, not a free API

Glassdoor has no public API for third-party bulk access to another company's reviews or salary
data. The site itself sits behind an anti-bot edge that blocks plain automated requests, which is
why this actor renders the page with a real browser through Apify's UNBLOCKER proxy instead of a
simple HTTP request.

### Limits

- Glassdoor shows only a handful of reviews to anonymous visitors before a login wall. This actor
  does not log in and does not get around that wall - it collects and reports only what is
  actually visible on the public page. In testing (Apple), that was **3 reviews**, no matter how
  high `maxReviewsPerCompany` is set, and no separate overall-rating figure (Glassdoor's
  structured review data for Apple did not include one). Salary rows were not behind a login wall
  in testing: Apple returned 5 job titles with pay ranges from one salary page.
- Company-name input resolves through Glassdoor's own search page; if no reviews page is found for
  a name, that company is skipped with a warning in the run log. A direct Glassdoor URL (Reviews,
  Salary or Overview page) is more reliable.
- If Glassdoor shows an anti-bot challenge for a given run, that company is skipped with a warning
  in the log rather than failing the whole run - rerun it.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Company name (e.g. Apple) or a direct Glassdoor Reviews/Salary/Overview URL.

## `maxReviewsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

How many reviews to save per company. In practice capped by how many Glassdoor shows before its login wall.

## `includeSalaries` (type: `boolean`):

Also visit the company's Glassdoor salary page and save whatever salary rows are visible.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "Apple"
  ],
  "maxReviewsPerCompany": 5,
  "includeSalaries": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Scraped records in the default dataset.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "companies": [
        "Apple"
    ],
    "maxReviewsPerCompany": 5,
    "includeSalaries": true
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("antishock/glassdoor-company-reviews-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
