## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

**Taiwan Game Rating Lookup** gives you Taiwan's official **game software ratings (遊戲軟體分級, GSRR)** as **clean English JSON**. Search by title, company, platform, rating or release date. Each record includes the rating (G, P, PG12, PG15, R), platform, genre and content descriptors, with the original Traditional Chinese kept next to every English label.

- 📋 **60,000+ rating records**, from the 1980s to games releasing this month
- 🔄 **Refreshed daily** from the official Taiwan rating database of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (數位發展部)
- 🎮 Console, PC, mobile, HTML5, cloud and VR titles, including **PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S**
- 💸 **Pay only for records delivered**. No results, errors or invalid input cost nothing.
- 🤖 **Built for AI agents and automations**: predictable JSON, with an English label and an age for every rating

> This is an **unofficial tool**. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Digital Game Self-regulation Committee, or any Taiwanese government body.

### What can you use Taiwan Game Rating Lookup for?

- **Launching in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau**: Taiwan's rating is mandatory for games sold in Taiwan. Hong Kong and Macau have no dedicated game rating system, and publishers serving the three markets together commonly follow the Taiwan rating. Check how comparable titles were rated before you submit.
- **Localization and compliance teams**: confirm the rating, content descriptors and registered company of a title per platform.
- **Market research**: track releases by platform, genre or company, for example every Switch 2 title rated this year.
- **Monitoring**: schedule a daily run filtered by company or release date to catch new registrations.
- **AI agents**: answer "What is this game rated in Taiwan?" with one call.

### Sample output

Each record is one rating registration for one platform. A game released on three platforms usually has three records.

```json
{
  "title": "Onimusha: Way of the Sword",
  "company": "Capcom Asia Co., Ltd.",
  "platform": { "en": "PS5", "zh": "PS5" },
  "rating": { "code": "R", "label": "R (18+)", "minAge": 18, "zh": "限" },
  "contentDescriptors": [{ "en": "Violence", "zh": "暴力" }],
  "genre": { "en": "Action", "zh": "動作" },
  "releaseDate": "2026-09-25",
  "unreleased": false,
  "source": "Taiwan Entertainment Software Rating Information (gamerating.org.tw), Ministry of Digital Affairs",
  "fetchedAt": "2026-09-30T14:48:49+00:00"
}
```

You can download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or fetch them via the Apify API.

#### Output fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `title` | Title as registered: Traditional Chinese or the original name (often English or Japanese) |
| `company` | Registered company (publisher or local distributor) |
| `platform` | Platform, e.g. PS5, Switch 2, Mobile, PC (Offline), PC (Online), HTML5, Web, Standalone VR |
| `rating.code` / `rating.label` / `rating.minAge` | `G` (All ages, 0) · `P` (6+) · `PG12` (12+) · `PG15` (15+) · `R` (18+) |
| `contentDescriptors` | Violence, Fear/Horror, Sexual Content, Inappropriate Language, Drugs, Tobacco & Alcohol, Antisocial Behavior, Romance/Dating, Virtual Romance/Marriage, Board, Card & Puzzle Games, or No Content Descriptors |
| `genre` | e.g. Action, RPG, Shooter, Strategy & Simulation, Puzzle, Mystery & Riddle Solving, Card & Puzzle Games, Life Simulation / Raising |
| `releaseDate` | Release date as registered (`YYYY-MM-DD`), or `null` if not given |
| `unreleased` | `true` if registered as not yet released (未上市) |
| `source`, `fetchedAt` | Data source and the time of the daily sync that produced the record |

Every English label comes with its original Chinese (`zh`), exactly as published.

### How to search

All filters are optional and combined with AND. Results are sorted by release date, newest first.

| Input | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `gameTitle` | `"Monster Hunter"`, `"魔物獵人"` | Partial match. Ignores case and spaces. |
| `company` | `"Capcom"`, `"Sony"` | Partial match on the registered company |
| `platform` | `"PS5"`, `"Switch 2"`, `"Mobile"` | Partial match on the platform name |
| `ratings` | `["PG15", "R"]` | Default: all ratings |
| `releasedFrom`, `releasedTo` | `"2026-01-01"` | Release date range, inclusive |
| `includeUnreleased` | `true` (default) | Set to `false` to hide titles registered as unreleased |
| `maxResults` | `100` (default) | Maximum records returned. You are charged only for what is delivered. |

Example: every R-rated Switch 2 game released in 2026:

```json
{
  "platform": "Switch 2",
  "ratings": ["R"],
  "releasedFrom": "2026-01-01",
  "releasedTo": "2026-12-31",
  "maxResults": 500
}
```

**Tip:** a game can be registered under its Chinese name or its original name. If one doesn't match, try the other, or search by company.

### Pricing

This Actor uses **pay per event** pricing, with no platform usage fee on top:

| Event | Price | When |
|---|---|---|
| **Rating record** | **$0.003** per record | For each record delivered to your dataset |
| Lookup fee | $0.01 per run | Once per run, **only if at least one record was delivered** |

Examples:

- Check one game on three platforms (3 records): 3 × $0.003 + $0.01 = **$0.019**
- Every game released in Taiwan in one month (about 400 records): **about $1.21**
- No matching records: **$0**

You are **not charged anything** when:

- the search returns no results,
- the input is invalid,
- the data source is temporarily unavailable.

Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops at that limit.

### Coverage

- All titles published in the official Taiwan rating database, from early PC titles to games releasing this month.
- Many mobile and HTML5 records are casual card and puzzle titles (genre "Card & Puzzle Games"). Use the `platform` and `ratings` filters to narrow results.
- Exact duplicate rows in the source are removed. Titles containing commas, which break some rows of the source file, are repaired automatically.
- Release dates are as registered by the publisher. A few older records have no usable date and return `null`.

### FAQ

**How fresh is the data?**
The dataset is re-synced from the official source once a day. The `fetchedAt` field shows when each record was synced. If a sync fails, the previous day's data is kept.

**Why does one game have several records?**
Ratings are registered per platform, so a multi-platform game has one record per platform.

**Are the English labels official?**
Rating codes (G, P, PG12, PG15, R) follow the official system. Other labels are our translations, and the Chinese original is always included.

**Does this cover Hong Kong and Macau?**
The data is Taiwan's. Hong Kong and Macau have no dedicated game rating system, so the Taiwan rating is often used as a practical reference there. Always check local requirements.

**Is this legal to use?**
The data is official public information published by Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs for public lookup. The Actor collects no personal data, only company names as published.
