## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Search Apple Podcasts and export podcast episodes without an API key. Search by keyword and get one row per podcast with name, author, genres, episode count, artwork, Apple page and feed URL; or give podcast URLs or ids and get one row per episode with title, publish date, duration, audio file, description, episode and season numbers. Any store country. Schedule it and new episodes are flagged. Podcast discovery, competitor tracking, guest and sponsorship research, transcription pipelines and media monitoring at $0.0005 per podcast or episode.

The Actor uses Apple's public iTunes search and lookup endpoints and reads each podcast's own RSS feed. No Apple account, token or device is needed.

### What you get

**Podcast** (search rows): `podcastId`, `name`, `author`, `url`, `feedUrl`, `artwork`, `genres`, `primaryGenre`, `episodeCount`, `releaseDate` (latest episode according to Apple), `country`, `explicit`.

**Episode** (podcast rows): `id`, `title`, `link`, `publishedAt`, `durationSeconds`, `audioUrl`, `enclosureType`, `summary`, `contentHtml`, `image`, `episode`, `season`, with `podcastId`, `podcastName`, `podcastAuthor`, `podcastUrl`, `feedUrl`, `artwork`, `genres` and `episodeCount` on every row.

**Changes** on scheduled runs: `isNew` is true for episodes (or podcasts in search mode) that were not in the previous run.

Searches without results or podcasts that do not exist return a row with an `error` field and are not charged.

### How to use it

1. Open the **Input** tab.
2. Add **Search queries** (podcast discovery) and/or **Podcast URLs or ids** (episode export): `https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/<name>/id1779594577` or `1779594577`.
3. Set **Country**, **Max podcasts per search** and **Max episodes per podcast**.
4. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
5. Schedule the Actor to be told when a podcast publishes.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0005 per podcast or episode** and **$0.001 per new episode or podcast** detected on a scheduled run. A podcast whose feed cannot be read counts as one item; searches without results are free. The latest 50 episodes of 100 podcasts cost $2.50.

### Limits and notes

- Episodes come from the podcast's RSS feed, newest first, as many as the feed lists (most feeds keep every episode; some keep the latest 50 to 300).
- Search returns up to 200 podcasts per query, ranked by Apple.
- Apple's own ratings and reviews are not part of the public endpoints.

### Related Actors

- **RSS Feed Scraper & Monitor**: any feed, podcasts included, by feed URL.
- **YouTube Channel Videos Scraper**: video podcasts on YouTube.
- **App Store Reviews Scraper**: reviews of podcast apps.
