## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Scrape Craigslist listings from any search: apartments and housing, cars and trucks, jobs, gigs, for sale, services, community, on any city site. Copy a search URL from Craigslist (with its filters: keywords, price range, sort, pictures only, bedrooms...) and get one row per listing with title, price, posting date, neighborhood, coordinates, bedrooms and square feet, images and link, up to 360 listings per search. Turn on details to also get the full description, the attributes (pets, condition, parking...) and the street address of each listing. Schedule it and new listings are flagged. Real estate and rental monitoring, car sourcing, lead generation and market research at $0.0005 per listing.

No browser, no login: the Actor reads the same search service the Craigslist site uses. It never bypasses CAPTCHAs or rate limits.

### What you get

**Listing** (one row each): `id`, `url`, `title`, `price`, `priceText`, `currency`, `postedAt`, `category` (apa, cta, jjj, sss...), `area` (city site), `areaName`, `subarea`, `neighborhood`, `lat`, `lng`, `bedrooms`, `sqft`, `compensation` (jobs and gigs), `company` (jobs), `odometer` (cars), `imagesCount`, `image`, `images`.

**With details on**: `description`, `attributes` (e.g. `2BR / 1Ba`, `cats are OK`, `condition: good`), `address`.

**Source**: `search` (the search URL) and `query`. **Changes** on scheduled runs: `isNew` is true for listings that were not in the previous run of the same search.

Searches that cannot be read or return nothing are free.

### How to use it

1. On Craigslist, pick your city, run the search you want and copy the URL from the address bar, e.g. `https://newyork.craigslist.org/search/apa?query=studio&min_price=1500&max_price=2500`.
2. Add it to **Search URLs**, one per line (up to 200 per run). Subarea searches (`/search/brk/apa`) are kept.
3. Set **Max listings per search** (up to 360) and whether to **Open every listing** for descriptions, attributes and addresses.
4. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
5. Schedule the Actor to be notified of new listings.

### Input

```json
{
  "searchUrls": ["https://newyork.craigslist.org/search/apa?query=studio&min_price=1500", "https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=honda+civic"],
  "maxResults": 100,
  "includeDetails": false
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "search": "https://newyork.craigslist.org/search/apa?min_price=1500&query=studio",
  "query": "studio",
  "isNew": false,
  "timestamp": "2026-10-22T14:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0005 per listing** and **$0.001 per new listing** detected on a scheduled run. Searches that cannot be read are free. 360 listings of 10 searches cost $1.80.

### Limits and notes

- Craigslist serves the first 360 results of a search; narrow the search (price range, subarea, keywords) to see more of a busy category.
- Bedrooms, square feet, compensation, company and odometer appear only for the categories that have them.
- Opening every listing adds one request per listing; keep it off for large monitoring runs.
- The Actor never bypasses logins, CAPTCHAs or rate limits.
