## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Scrape public Instagram location pages by id or URL without logging in, without API keys and without cookies. Paste location ids or URLs and get the place details (name, category, address, coordinates, phone, total number of posts) and one row per featured post (about 15 per location) with author, caption, hashtags, date, likes, comments, plays and media. Schedule it and new posts are flagged: local marketing, venue and event monitoring, tourism research and influencer discovery by place at $0.002 per location.

The Actor reads exactly what Instagram shows to a logged-out visitor on the location page, through residential connections that Instagram does not block.

### What you get

**Place** (on every row): `locationId`, `name`, `slug`, `locationUrl`, `category`, `address`, `city`, `postalCode`, `phone`, `latitude`, `longitude`, `mediaCount` (total posts tagged at the place), `priceRange`, `businessUsername` (the Instagram account of the business, when linked).

**Post** (one row each): `code`, `url`, `id`, `type` (image, video or carousel), `productType`, `caption`, `hashtags`, `takenAt`, `likes`, `likesHidden`, `comments`, `views`, `username`, `userId`, `image`, `videoUrl`, `carouselCount`, `isPaidPartnership`, `accessibilityCaption`, `position`.

**Changes** on scheduled runs: `isNew` is true for posts that were not among the featured posts in the previous run (null on the first run).

Locations without posts return a single row with `postsFound: 0`. Locations that do not exist return a row with an `error` field and are not charged.

### How to use it

1. Find the location id: open any post tagged at the place, click the place name and copy the URL (`https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/212988663/new-york-new-york/`).
2. Open the **Input** tab and add **Location ids or URLs**, one per line (up to 500 per run).
3. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
4. Schedule the Actor to get the new featured posts of the places you follow.

### Input

```json
{
  "locations": ["https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/212988663/new-york-new-york/", "213385402"]
}
```

### Output

One row per featured post:

```json
{
  "locationId": "212988663",
  "name": "New York, New York",
  "category": "City",
  "latitude": 40.7142,
  "longitude": -74.0064,
  "mediaCount": 83895403,
  "postsFound": 15,
  "position": 1,
  "code": "DerAgglmT0M",
  "url": "https://www.instagram.com/p/DerAgglmT0M/",
  "username": "someone",
  "caption": "love is everywhere!",
  "takenAt": "2026-10-18T19:28:18.000Z",
  "likes": 120,
  "comments": 4,
  "isNew": null,
  "timestamp": "2026-10-19T10:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.002 per location** (featured posts included) and **$0.0005 per new post** detected on a scheduled run. Locations that cannot be read are free. A run of 100 locations costs $0.20.

### Limits and notes

- Instagram shows visitors the featured posts of a place (about 15) without pagination; the total number of posts comes in `mediaCount`.
- Address, phone and price range appear only for businesses that filled them in; cities and regions carry name, category and coordinates.
- The Actor never bypasses logins, CAPTCHAs or rate limits.

### Related Actors

- **Instagram Hashtag Scraper**: featured posts of a hashtag.
- **Instagram Profile Scraper**, **Instagram Post Scraper**, **Instagram Reels Scraper**: profiles, posts and reels.
- **Google Maps Places Scraper**: businesses of a place with contact details.
