## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Scrape Instagram posts and reels by URL without logging in, without API keys and without cookies. Paste post or reel URLs (or the shortcode alone) and get one row per post with likes, comments, date, caption, hashtags, mentions, author, tagged users, co-authors, location, music, topics and every image and video, carousels included. Schedule it and each row carries the like and comment growth since the previous run: campaign reporting, influencer deliverables, content research and competitor tracking at $0.002 per post.

The Actor reads exactly what Instagram shows to a logged-out visitor on the post page, through residential connections that Instagram does not block.

### What you get

**Post**:

- `code`, `url`, `type` (`image`, `video` or `carousel`), `productType` (`feed`, `clips` for reels, `carousel_container`, `igtv`), `isReel`, `takenAt`.
- `caption`, `hashtags`, `mentions`, `captionEdited`, `accessibilityCaption`, `topics` (Instagram's related topics).
- `likes`, `likesHidden` (true when the author hides like counts), `comments`, `commentsDisabled`.
- `ownerUsername`, `ownerFullName`, `ownerId`, `ownerVerified`, `ownerPrivate`, `ownerAvatar`, `coauthors` (collaboration posts).
- `taggedUsers`, `location`, `locationId`, `isPaidPartnership`.
- `image`, `videoUrl`, `width`, `height`, `hasAudio`, `musicTitle`, `musicArtist`.
- `carouselCount` and `media`: every image or video of the post with `type`, `image`, `videoUrl`, `width`, `height`, `accessibilityCaption` and `taggedUsers`.

**Growth** on scheduled runs: `likesChange`, `commentsChange` (null on the first run).

Posts that do not exist, were removed or belong to private accounts return a row with an `error` field and are not charged.

### How to use it

1. Open the **Input** tab.
2. Add **Post or reel URLs**: `https://www.instagram.com/p/DeTUk4sDSp-/`, `https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeTUk4sDSp-/` or just `DeTUk4sDSp-`, one per line (up to 1,000 per run).
3. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
4. Schedule the Actor to follow how likes and comments of a campaign evolve.

### Input

```json
{
  "postUrls": ["https://www.instagram.com/p/DeTUk4sDSp-/", "https://www.instagram.com/p/DeJ28eTxo4s/"]
}
```

| Field | Description |

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

- **Post scraped**: $0.002 per post or reel returned.
- **Stats changed**: $0.0005 per post whose likes or comments changed since the previous run (scheduled runs only).

Posts that cannot be scraped are free. 1,000 posts cost $2.

### Tips

- Get the post URLs from the **Instagram Profile Scraper** (`latestPosts`) or the **Instagram Hashtag Scraper** and feed them here for likes, comments and media.
- Media URLs are Instagram CDN links that expire after some days: download what you need soon after the run.
- `topics` are the related-topic labels Instagram attaches to the post, handy for content classification.

### Limitations

- Comments text, likers and view counts are not available to logged-out visitors; the Actor returns the counters Instagram publishes on the page.
- Posts from private accounts are not accessible.
- The Actor respects Instagram's pace: expect roughly one post per second.
