## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Scrape the latest reels of any public Instagram profile without logging in, without API keys and without cookies. Paste usernames or profile URLs and get one row per reel with plays, likes, comments, caption, date, thumbnail and video URL, up to 12 reels per profile (the ones Instagram shows to visitors on the Reels tab). Schedule it and new reels are flagged: creator analytics, influencer vetting, competitor benchmarks and content research at $0.0004 per reel.

The Actor reads exactly what Instagram shows to a logged-out visitor on the Reels tab and the profile page, through residential connections that Instagram does not block.

### What you get

**Reel** (one row each): `code`, `url`, `id`, `plays`, `likes`, `likesHidden`, `comments`, `image`, `isPinned`, `position`.

**From the profile page** (for reels among the 12 latest posts): `caption`, `postedOn`, `videoUrl`, `accessibilityCaption`.

**Profile**: `username`, `profileUrl`, `profileId`, `fullName`, `followers`, `reelsFound`.

**Changes** on scheduled runs: `isNew` is true for reels that were not among the latest reels in the previous run (null on the first run).

Profiles without reels return a single row with `reelsFound: 0` and are not charged. Private or missing profiles return a row with an `error` field and are not charged.

### How to use it

1. Open the **Input** tab.
2. Add **Usernames or profile URLs**: `nasa`, `@natgeo` or `https://www.instagram.com/nike/reels/`, one per line (up to 500 per run).
3. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
4. Schedule the Actor to get the new reels of the profiles you follow with their first-days plays.

### Input

```json
{
  "usernames": ["nasa", "natgeo"]
}
```

### Output

One row per reel:

```json
{
  "username": "nasa",
  "fullName": "NASA",
  "followers": 104362417,
  "reelsFound": 12,
  "position": 1,
  "code": "DeTUk4sDSp-",
  "url": "https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeTUk4sDSp-/",
  "plays": 10156583,
  "likes": 700777,
  "comments": 6936,
  "caption": "POV: you're watching the Earth set",
  "postedOn": "2026-10-09",
  "image": "https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/...",
  "isPinned": true,
  "isNew": null,
  "timestamp": "2026-10-18T10:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0004 per reel** and **$0.001 per new reel** detected on a scheduled run. Profiles without reels or that cannot be read are free. A profile with 12 reels costs about $0.005; 100 profiles cost about $0.48.

### Limits and notes

- Instagram shows visitors the 12 latest reels of a profile, without pagination. Captions and dates come from the profile page, so reels older than the 12 latest posts have counters but no caption.
- Only public profiles; private accounts come back as an error row (free).
- For a single reel with full details (music, tagged users, location, carousel) use the **Instagram Post Scraper**.
- The Actor never bypasses logins, CAPTCHAs or rate limits.

### Related Actors

- **Instagram Profile Scraper**: followers, bio, links and the 12 latest posts of a profile.
- **Instagram Post Scraper**: likes, comments, date, music and media of any post or reel.
- **Instagram Hashtag Scraper**: featured posts of a hashtag.
