## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Get the comments of any Reddit post from its URL, without login, cookies or API key. Paste post URLs and get one row per comment with text, author, score, depth, the comment it replies to and the date, plus the post title, author, score and subreddit on every row (the comments Reddit shows to visitors, about 25 per post). Schedule it and new comments are flagged. Sentiment analysis, product feedback, community research, brand monitoring and training data at $0.0005 per comment.

The Actor reads the public post page the way Reddit serves it to visitors. It never bypasses logins, CAPTCHAs or rate limits.

### What you get

**Comment** (one row each): `id`, `author`, `text`, `score`, `depth` (0 = direct reply to the post), `parentId`, `createdAt`, `url`.

**Post** on every row: `postUrl`, `postId`, `postTitle`, `postAuthor`, `postScore`, `postComments` (total reported by Reddit), `subreddit`.

**Changes** on scheduled runs: `isNew` is true for comments that were not in the previous run of the same post.

Posts that do not exist, were removed or have no comments return a row without comment data and are not charged.

### How to use it

1. Open the **Input** tab.
2. Add **Post URLs**, one per line (up to 500 per run): `https://www.reddit.com/r/python/comments/abc123/title/` or `https://redd.it/abc123`.
3. Set **Max comments per post** (up to 100).
4. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
5. Schedule the Actor to follow the discussion of a post.

### Input

```json
{
  "postUrls": ["https://www.reddit.com/r/Python/comments/g53lxf/lad_wrote_a_python_script_to_download_alexa_voice/"],
}
```

  "timestamp": "2026-10-26T10:00:00.000Z"
}
```
### Pricing
Pay per event: **$0.0005 per comment** and **$0.001 per new comment** detected on a scheduled run. Posts that cannot be read are free. 100 comments of 50 posts cost $2.50.
### Limits and notes
- Reddit shows visitors about 25 comments per post (the top-level comments it ranks first and their first replies); the rest of the thread loads only for logged-in users and is not read. **Max comments per post** caps what you pay within that.
- Deleted or removed comments appear as Reddit shows them (`[deleted]`).
- The Actor never bypasses logins, CAPTCHAs or rate limits.
### Related Actors
- **Reddit Scraper**: posts of subreddits, users and searches, with optional comments.
- **YouTube Comments Scraper**, **TikTok Comments Scraper**, **Facebook Comments Scraper**: comments on other platforms.
