## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Scrape the posts of any public Telegram channel as clean, structured rows. Paste channel usernames or t.me links and the Actor returns one row per post with its text, date, views, reactions, photos, video and document flags, links and link previews, plus the channel's title and subscriber count. Go back as far as you need, or schedule it to collect every new post as it is published: ideal for news monitoring, crypto and finance signals, brand mentions and research.

No Telegram account, no phone number, no API keys: the Actor reads the public web preview of each channel (`t.me/s/<channel>`). You pay $0.0005 per post returned.

### What you get

One Dataset row per post, newest first:

- `id`, `url`, `date`, `text`, `links`, `edited`.
- `views` (approximate, as Telegram shows it) and `viewsText`.
- `reactions` (emoji and count; custom emojis show the count only) and `reactionsTotal`.
- `photos` (image URLs), `hasVideo`, `hasDocument`, `linkPreview` (url, site, title, description).
- `author` (in channels that sign posts) and `forwardedFrom`.
- `channel`, `channelUrl`, `channelTitle`, `subscribers`.
- `isNew`: `true` for posts published since the previous run.

A channel that does not exist or is not public produces a single row with an `error` field and is not charged.

### How to use it

1. Open the **Input** tab.
2. In **Channels** paste one per line: `durov`, `@telegram` or `https://t.me/durov`.
3. Set **Max posts per channel** (default 50, up to 2,000). The newest posts come first.
4. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.
5. To monitor channels, schedule the Actor (for example every hour). New posts come with `isNew: true`; connect a webhook to get them in your app.

### Input

```json
{
  "channels": ["durov", "https://t.me/telegram"],
  "maxPosts": 100
}
```

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `channels` | Public channel usernames or t.me links. Up to 50 per run. |
| `maxPosts` | Posts per channel, 1 to 2,000. Default 50. |

- **Post scraped**: $0.0005 per post row. 1,000 posts cost $0.50.
- **New post**: $0.001 per post published since the previous scheduled run.

Channels that cannot be read are free. Compare with Telegram scrapers at $1.25 to $10 per 1,000 posts.

### Use it as an API

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/aolmo~telegram-channel/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"channels": ["durov"], "maxPosts": 20}'
```

You can also call it from AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

### FAQ

**Can it read private channels or groups?** No, only public channels that have a web preview on t.me.

**Can it download the videos?** It flags posts with video and returns photo URLs; video files are not downloaded.

**How far back can it go?** Up to 2,000 posts per channel per run, newest first.

**Where is the data stored between runs?** In a Key-Value Store of your account named `micro-saas-state-telegram-channel`, one key per channel. Delete it to start fresh.
