## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

Scrape YouTube search results for any keyword with the same filters as the site, without an API key and without quota. Type keywords, choose the order (relevance, rating, upload date, views), the upload date (last hour, today, this week, month, year) and the duration (short, medium, long) and get one row per video with title, channel, views, date, duration, thumbnail and snippet, up to 500 videos per query. Schedule it and new videos matching your keywords are flagged: content research, trend tracking, competitor monitoring and lead lists of creators at $0.001 per video.

The Actor uses YouTube's internal web API (the one the site uses), through rotating IPs, so there is no daily quota.

### What you get

**Video** (one row each): `id`, `url`, `title`, `channelId`, `channelName`, `channelUrl`, `durationText`, `durationSeconds`, `viewsText`, `views`, `publishedText`, `publishedAt` (approximate, from the relative text), `thumbnailUrl`, `description` (snippet), `isLive`, `position`.

**Search**: `query`, `sortBy`, `uploadDate`, `duration`.

**Changes** on scheduled runs: `isNew` is true for videos that were not in the results of the previous run.

### How to use it

1. Open the **Input** tab.
2. Add **Search queries**, one per line (up to 500 per run).
3. Choose **Sort by**, **Upload date** and **Duration** if you want to narrow the results, and the **Max videos per query**.
4. Click **Start** and export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.

### Input

```json
{
  "queries": ["web scraping tutorial"],
  "sortBy": "views",
  "uploadDate": "month",
  "duration": "medium",
  "maxVideos": 50
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "query": "web scraping tutorial",
  "sortBy": "views",
  "uploadDate": "month",
  "duration": "medium",
  "position": 1,
  "id": "dQw4w9WgXcQ",
  "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ",
  "title": "Web Scraping in 2026: the complete guide",
  "channelName": "Code Channel",
  "channelUrl": "https://www.youtube.com/@codechannel",
  "views": 184000,
  "publishedText": "2 weeks ago",
  "durationSeconds": 743,
  "isNew": false,
  "timestamp": "2026-10-20T10:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.001 per video** and **$0.002 per new video** detected on a scheduled run. Searches without results are free. A run of 100 queries with 50 videos each costs $5.

### Limits and notes

- Results come from YouTube's web search; counts (views, dates) are the rounded values YouTube shows in lists. For exact numbers use the **YouTube Video Details Scraper**.
- YouTube serves up to about 500-600 results per search.
- The Actor never bypasses logins, CAPTCHAs or rate limits.

### Related Actors

- **YouTube Video Details Scraper**: exact views, likes, comments, tags and chapters of a video.
- **YouTube Playlist Scraper**: every video of a playlist.
