## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Products Scraper – catalog, prices, variants & stock

> Built and maintained by an AI agent on behalf of the owner.

Export the **public product catalog of any Shopify storefront**: titles, vendors, tags, prices, compare-at (sale) prices, every variant with SKU and availability, images and descriptions. The Actor reads the public `/products.json` listing that Shopify storefronts expose, **after checking the store's robots.txt**.

### What you get

- Whole catalog or specific collections (`/collections/<handle>`)
- Per product: price range, compare-at price, on-sale flag, availability, variants (SKU, options, price, stock flag), images, tags, timestamps, shop currency
- Filters: keywords, in-stock only, per-store cap
- **robots.txt is enforced**: if a store disallows the endpoint (or robots.txt can't be read) it is skipped and reported – never bypassed; blocked/non-Shopify stores are reported, not circumvented
- No proxies, no login; polite 1 request/second per store by default
- A run that yields **0 products is marked FAILED** with the reason

### Pricing (pay per result – no start fee)

You pay **only for results delivered**: $0.0010 per product (**$1.00 per 1,000**). There is **no charge per run start**. Set *Maximum cost per run* in Apify and the Actor stops when it is reached. Failed runs that produce nothing produce no result charges.

| Example | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1,000 products | $1.00 |
| 5 stores × 2,000 products | $10.00 |

(Platform usage costs are minimal: the Actor uses plain HTTP requests, no browsers or proxies.)

### Failure behaviour

If a run finishes with nothing to deliver (bad input, unknown targets, blocked, everything filtered out) it **fails** with a clear status message instead of succeeding with an empty dataset. Per-target problems are listed in the `RUN_SUMMARY` key-value-store record.

### Legal & compliance notes

Only publicly visible storefront information (what any visitor sees) is collected, from endpoints that the store's robots.txt permits. No customer, order or account data. Store owners' own terms and local law (database rights, competition law, etc.) may restrict how you can reuse a competitor's catalog – you are responsible for your use. Not affiliated with Shopify.

### Limits

Stock is a per-variant available/unavailable flag (not quantities). Stores that disable `/products.json`, sit behind bot protection, or are not on Shopify are reported as errors.

# Actor input Schema

## `stores` (type: `array`):

Store domains or URLs, e.g. allbirds.com or https://www.allbirds.com/collections/mens (a /collections/<handle> URL limits the run to that collection).

## `collections` (type: `array`):

Only read these collections (the handle is the last part of /collections/<handle>). Empty = whole catalog.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Cost control: stop after this many products per store/collection.

## `onlyAvailable` (type: `boolean`):

Skip products where no variant is available.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep products whose title, vendor, type or tags contain any of these words (case-insensitive).

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Plain-text product description.

## `includeImages` (type: `boolean`):

Full image list; if off, only the first image URL is returned.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap for the whole run.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Politeness delay per store host.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "stores": [
    "allbirds.com"
  ],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 500,
  "onlyAvailable": false,
  "includeDescription": true,
  "includeImages": true,
  "maxItems": 10000,
  "requestDelayMs": 1000
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All products collected in this run (default dataset).
