- **Full Actor documentation**: https://apify.com/apivault_labs/reddit-scraper.md

## Changelog

### \[2.4] — 2026-10-21 — Post search and public discussions

- Added explicit search and discussion modes while preserving profile inputs and defaults.
- Added bounded search cursors, deduplication, source deadlines and optional user-selected Residential Proxy access.
- Discussion JSON is attempted first; public RSS is a fallback with unknown scores and hierarchy kept null. Complete comment-tree expansion is not implemented.
- Added SUMMARY/ERRORS diagnostics and output-budget handling for discovery. Source failures never become result records.
- Expanded the input form, settings reference, small API examples and coverage/cost documentation. Existing integrations and Tasks are preserved.

### \[2.3] — 2026-09-12 — Negative-result billing and timeout fix

#### Fixed

- Deleted, suspended, nonexistent, and temporarily failed profiles are no longer
pushed to the paid Dataset. Their diagnostics remain available in `SUMMARY`.
- Public Reddit requests now use bounded connect/read timeouts and two attempts,
preventing a single unavailable profile from holding a run for minutes.
- Restored the billing guarantee from 1.0: only successful profile/activity
  records create per-result charges.

### \[2.2] — 2026-08-29 — Reliability recovery

#### Fixed

- Runs no longer fail immediately when Reddit API credentials are unavailable.
- Added a credential-free public RSS fallback for users, posts, comments, and
subreddit author discovery, including rate-limit retries.
- RSS-only output marks unavailable profile metadata as `null` and exposes
  `dataSource`, `dataCompleteness`, and `limitations` fields.
- Karma and account-age filters are applied only when the required OAuth profile
  metadata is available.

### \[2.1] — 2026-08-22 — Lead-gen upgrade

#### Added

- **Contact discovery**: emails, social links and external domains extracted from bio,
  posts and comments (`contactEmails`, `socialLinks`, `externalDomains`, `hasContactInfo`).
- **Bot/farm score** (0-100) with human-readable `botSignals`.
- **Lead filters**: `minKarma`, `minAccountAgeDays`, `activeWithinDays`, `hasContactInfoOnly` —
filtered-out profiles are skipped and never billed.
- **Subreddit lead discovery**: paste subreddits to profile every active author in them.
- **Change tracking** (opt-in `trackChanges`): `karmaDelta` and `previousScrapedAt` vs your previous runs.

#### Pricing

- New price starting **September 6, 2026**: **$0.0008 per record ($0.8 per 1,000)** — 2.5x cheaper.
Until then: $0.002 per record. Platform usage costs are paid by you (compute is minimal).

### \[2.0] — 2026-08-22 — Full rebuild: bulk + analytics

#### Added

- **Bulk input**: multiple usernames per run (plain name, `u/name`, or profile URL).
- **Activity analytics**: most-active subreddits, top subreddits by karma, posting-time
histogram (UTC), account age, karma-per-day velocity, last-active timestamp.
- Latest posts and comments per profile (`maxPosts` / `maxComments`, 0 = profile only).
- Full karma breakdown (post / comment / awardee / awarder / total), trophies,
moderated subreddits, account flags (premium, employee, suspended, verified email).

#### Changed

- Rebuilt on a stable, reliable data backend after the previous provider shut down.
- Clear `notFound` rows for suspended/deleted/nonexistent accounts.

#### Unchanged

- Same price: $0.002 per record ($2 per 1,000), pay per result only.

## Previous

All notable changes to this Actor will be documented here.

### \[1.0] — 2026-06-06

#### Fixed — billing

- Only successful profiles are now written to the dataset, so a failed /
private / suspended lookup is never charged.

### \[0.0] — 2026-06-03

#### Fixed

- **Transient fetch failures** — profiles that intermittently failed with
"Failed to fetch website content" are now retried automatically with
backoff (`maxRetries`, default 3). This recovers the vast majority of
  previously-failed profiles in a run.

#### Changed

- Pricing updated to **$0.002 per profile** ($2 per 1,000). Title and
description now reflect the current price.

#### Added

- `maxRetries` input (0-5, default 3) to control retry attempts
- Real-time Reddit profile scraping — username, karma, bio, followers,
website, active subreddits, trophies, cake day
- No login or API key required
