## Pricing

from $0.40 / 1,000 articles

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Search & Topics Scraper: headlines by keyword, site and timeframe

Collect Google News headlines for any keyword, phrase or topic section, with no login or cookies. Filter by publisher domain, time window, country edition and language. Each article comes with title, publisher, publication time and its Google News link. Export results as JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML, or pull them through the Apify API.

### What you can do with it

- Media and brand monitoring for a company, product or person
- News feeds for dashboards, newsletters and alerts
- Research by topic, region or language
- Track coverage from specific publishers
- Gather headline datasets for analysis

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Search queries (`queries`) | Keywords or phrases to search in Google News. Supports Google operators such as "exact phrase", OR, and -excluded. | none |
| Top-news topics (`topics`) | Optional headline sections to collect in addition to the queries. | none |
| Only from these sites (`sites`) | Restrict search queries to articles from these domains, for example reuters.com. Applies to queries. | none |
| Time frame (`timeframe`) | Only articles published within this window. Use values like 1h, 12h, 1d, 7d, 1m, 1y. Leave empty for no limit. Applies to queries. | none |
| Country (`country`) | Two-letter news edition country code (US, GB, DE, FR, IN ...). | US |
| Language (`language`) | Two-letter language code (en, de, fr, es ...). | en |
| Max articles per query (`maxItemsPerQuery`) | Maximum articles per query or topic. Google News returns up to about 100 per search. | 100 |

Topic sections available: World, Nation, Business, Technology, Entertainment, Sports, Science, Health.

Example input:

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "\"electric vehicles\" OR EV -tesla"
  ],
  "sites": [
    "reuters.com"
  ],
  "timeframe": "7d",
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en",
  "maxItemsPerQuery": 100
}
```

### Output

Each article contains: `country`, `googleLink`, `language`, `publishedAt`, `query`, `scrapedAt`, `source`, `sourceUrl`, `title`, `topic`, `url`.

Search queries support Google operators: "exact phrase", OR and -excluded words. Use `sites` to restrict a query to chosen domains and `timeframe` for windows such as 1h, 12h, 1d, 7d, 1m or 1y.

### Pricing

You pay for what is returned.

### FAQ

**Does it return the full article text?**
No. It returns headlines, publisher, time and links, not article bodies.

**Is `url` the publisher's address?**
Results carry the Google News link. To turn Google News article links into publisher URLs use the Google News Publisher URL Decoder.

**How many articles per query?**
Google News returns up to about 100 per search. Topic and search feeds are not full archives.

**Can I search another country or language?**
Yes. Set the country edition and language, for example DE and de.

### Limits

Headline collection does not include full article text. Search and topic feeds have finite result limits and are not exhaustive archives. Requests can be rate-limited or refused by the source. A small test is not proof of sustained-volume performance. Use collected data lawfully and follow the source's terms.
