## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Kickstarter Campaign Search Scraper

Search Kickstarter and export campaigns with funding goal, amount pledged, percent funded, backer count, deadline, category, creator and location. Good for product research, trend tracking and finding what crowdfunding backers want.

### What you get

One row per campaign.

### Input

- **Search term** - Keyword, for example watch or board game.
- **Project state** - Live, successful, failed or upcoming.
- **Sort by** - Magic (best match), popularity, newest, ending soon, most funded or most backed.
- **Staff picks only** - Only Kickstarter staff picks.
- **Maximum results** - How many projects to collect.

Example input:

```json
{
  "searchTerm": "watch",
  "state": "live",
  "sort": "magic",
  "maxItems": 48
}
```

### Output

Each result is one row in the dataset. You can download it as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read it through the Apify API.

- `image` - Project image (first column)
- `id, name, blurb, url` - The project
- `goal, pledged, percentFunded, usdPledged, backersCount` - Funding numbers
- `state, launchedAt, deadline` - Campaign timing
- `category, parentCategory, creatorName, location` - Who and what
- `staffPick, videoUrl, rewardsUrl` - Extras

Example result:

```json
{
  "id": 25026531,
  "name": "Introducing... The Apex Watch!",
  "state": "live",
  "category": "Product Design",
  "goal": 2500,
  "pledged": 2742,
  "percentFunded": 109.68,
  "backersCount": 10,
  "currency": "USD",
  "deadline": "2026-10-19T09:41:49.000Z",
  "url": "https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/aboutlucaceo/introducing-the-apex-watch"
}
```

### Good to know

- Runs are fast and need no cookies, logins or proxies from you.
- A search with no matches, or an input that is not valid, does not fail the run. It finishes as Succeeded with a short message and an example input.
- You pay per result row. Set **Maximum results** to control cost.
- Kickstarter returns 12 projects per page. The actor pages through automatically until your maximum is reached.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerm` (type: `string`):

Keyword to search Kickstarter projects for, for example "watch" or "board game".

## `state` (type: `string`):

Limit to projects in this state.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Order of the results.

## `staffPicksOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only return projects picked by Kickstarter staff.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many results. Lower numbers finish faster and cost less.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchTerm": "watch",
  "state": "",
  "sort": "magic",
  "staffPicksOnly": false,
  "maxItems": 48
}
