## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Sainsbury's Product Search

Collect grocery products from Sainsbury's UK for any search term: name, image, price, price per unit, availability, customer rating and review count, categories, labels and promotions, EAN barcodes.

### What you get

Every run saves one row per result. The first column is a thumbnail image where one exists. Main columns: thumbnail, productId, name, url, price, unitPrice, unitMeasure, unitMeasureAmount, wasUnitPrice, currency, available, rating, reviewCount, categories, labels, promotions, eans, searchTerm. Extra details the website provides are kept in further columns, and empty ones are left out.

### Use cases

- Grocery price tracking and comparison against other UK supermarkets
- Own-brand and branded product research
- Offer and promotion monitoring
- Barcode (EAN) matching for catalogues

### How to use

1. Fill in the input fields. They come prefilled with a working example, so you can press Start straight away.
2. Run the actor.
3. Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them through the Apify API.

### Input example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "milk",
    "free range eggs"
  ],
  "maxResults": 60
}
```

### Pricing

You pay per result saved. A run that finds nothing costs nothing.

### Notes

If an input is wrong or nothing is found, the run still finishes successfully and the status message tells you what to change, with a working example.

### FAQ

**Which prices do I get?**\
Shelf prices shown on the Sainsbury's website for a standard delivery area, in GBP.

**Can I search for many products at once?**\
Yes. Add one search term per line; each is collected separately and tagged in the searchTerm column.

**What if a search finds nothing?**\
The run still finishes successfully with a message. Try a broader word such as milk.

Only collect publicly available data and follow the website's terms and the laws that apply to you.
