## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## arXiv Search Scraper - Papers, Abstracts, PDFs for AI Agents

Use it to monitor new arXiv papers in a field, run literature reviews, or feed paper abstracts and PDF links to AI agents and RAG pipelines.

arXiv Scraper searches arXiv preprints by keyword, title, author, abstract or category and exports each paper with its title, abstract, authors, primary and secondary categories, submission and update dates, DOI, journal reference and PDF link. Use it to track new AI and machine learning papers, build research datasets, monitor authors or feed RAG pipelines with the latest preprints.

### Why this Actor

- Official source. It uses the arXiv API at export.arxiv.org, with no HTML scraping.
- Respects arXiv limits. It sends one request every 3 seconds, as the arXiv API terms ask.
- Full query syntax. Use ti, au, abs and cat prefixes with AND, OR and ANDNOT.
- Use cases: daily new-paper monitoring in cs.AI or cs.CL, literature reviews, author tracking, trend analysis and RAG over preprints.

### Notes

Thank you to arXiv for use of its open access interoperability. arXiv metadata is free to reuse; the papers themselves keep the license chosen by their authors. This Actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by arXiv.

### Pricing

Pay-per-event: a small start fee plus a fee per paper returned.

# Actor input Schema

## `query` (type: `string`):

arXiv API search syntax. Prefixes: all, ti (title), au (author), abs (abstract), cat (category). Combine with AND, OR, ANDNOT, e.g. cat:cs.CL AND ti:transformer

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of papers to return (1 to 2,000). Pages of 100 are fetched 3 seconds apart, as arXiv asks.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Field to sort results by.

## `sortOrder` (type: `string`):

Descending shows newest or most relevant first.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "query": "all:\"retrieval augmented generation\"",
  "maxResults": 20,
  "sortBy": "submittedDate",
  "sortOrder": "descending"
}
