## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk Domain WHOIS / RDAP Lookup + DNS & Email Provider

Look up **thousands of domains at once**: **registrar, creation date, expiry date, domain age, days until expiry, status codes, nameservers and DNSSEC** from the official **RDAP** registry service (the modern replacement of WHOIS), plus **DNS records (A, AAAA, MX, NS), SPF, DMARC and the email provider** (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho ...). Also tells you which domains are **not registered**.

- **$1.50 per 1,000 domains**. Invalid input is free.
- Paste **domains, URLs or email addresses**; subdomains are reduced to the registered domain (`www.bbc.co.uk` -> `bbc.co.uk`).
- Official registry data via IANA's RDAP bootstrap, no scraping of WHOIS websites, no API key.
- Works for TLDs without RDAP too (e.g. `.de`, `.tr`): you still get DNS, MX and email provider.
- No personal registrant data: only registrar and technical facts.

### Use cases

- **Domain portfolio management**: expiry dates and status of all your domains in one sheet.
- **Lead qualification / enrichment**: company domain age, email provider (Google vs Microsoft), SPF/DMARC set up or not.
- **Email deliverability checks**: MX, SPF and DMARC for a list of sending or prospect domains.
- **Security and brand protection**: newly created look-alike domains, nameserver changes.
- **Domain investing**: find which names on your list are unregistered.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `domains` | `apify.com`, `https://www.bbc.co.uk/news`, `info@example.com` ... |
| `includeDns` | DNS, MX, SPF, DMARC and email provider (default on) |
| `maxConcurrency` | Parallel lookups (default 5) |

```json
{
  "domains": ["apify.com", "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news", "info@trendyol.com"],
  "includeDns": true
}
```

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `domain`, `input`, `tld` | Registered domain, your input, TLD |
| `registered`, `likelyAvailable` | Registration state |
| `registrar`, `registrarIanaId`, `registrarUrl`, `registrarAbuseEmail` | Registrar |
| `createdAt`, `updatedAt`, `expiresAt` | Registry dates |
| `domainAgeDays`, `daysUntilExpiry` | Computed ages |
| `domainStatus`, `nameservers`, `dnssec` | EPP status codes, delegated nameservers, DNSSEC |
| `aRecords`, `aaaaRecords`, `dnsResolves` | Website IPs |
| `mxRecords`, `hasMx`, `emailProvider` | Mail servers and provider |
| `spf`, `dmarc`, `txtVerifications` | Email auth records, services verified in TXT (google, facebook, ms ...) |
| `source`, `rdapServer`, `rdapError` | Where the data came from |

```json
{
  "domain": "apify.com",
  "registered": true,
  "registrar": "Amazon Registrar, Inc.",
  "createdAt": "2009-06-02T17:14:10Z",
  "expiresAt": "2035-06-02T17:14:10Z",
  "domainAgeDays": 6348,
  "emailProvider": "Google Workspace",
  "hasMx": true
}
```

#### Free rows

`invalid_input` for anything that is not a domain. With `includeDns` off, TLDs without RDAP give a free `no_rdap` row.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0015 per result** ($1.50 per 1,000 saved rows). Each saved data row is one `result` event. Status rows, error rows and empty lookups are not charged. The run stops when it reaches the maximum cost per run. No Apify proxy and no login.

### Notes

- Some country registries (e.g. `.de`, `.tr`, `.es`) offer no public RDAP; for them `registered` is derived from DNS and dates are empty.
- `likelyAvailable: true` means the registry has no record; premium or reserved names may still not be purchasable.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Domains, URLs or email addresses, one per line: "apify.com", "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news", "info@example.com". Subdomains are reduced to the registered domain.

## `includeDns` (type: `boolean`):

Add A/AAAA, MX, nameservers, SPF, DMARC, verification TXT records and the email provider. Also gives data for TLDs without RDAP (e.g. .de, .tr).

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many domains are looked up at the same time.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "apify.com",
    "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news"
  ],
  "includeDns": true,
  "maxConcurrency": 5
}
