## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Reviews Scraper - Fast & Cheap

Scrape **Google Play Store app reviews** for any Android app: **star rating, review text, date, thumbs-up count, app version and the developer's reply**. Package name or Play Store URL in, reviews out as JSON, CSV or Excel.

- **$1.50 per 1,000 reviews**, no monthly rent.
- Any **language and country** (`en`, `de`, `tr`, `pt_BR` ... / `us`, `gb`, `tr` ...).
- **Filter by stars** (e.g. only 1-2 star reviews) and **by date** (scheduled runs stop at the last date you have).
- Sort by **newest, most relevant or rating**.
- No browser, no proxy, no login. Thousands of reviews per minute.
- Never fails on bad input: unknown apps and typos become free `status` rows.

### Use cases

- **App review monitoring**: daily feed of new 1-star reviews to Slack, a sheet or your support tool.
- **Competitor analysis**: what users love and hate in competing apps; feature requests.
- **Sentiment analysis and LLM summaries** of thousands of reviews.
- **ASO** (app store optimisation): keywords users use, ratings per app version.
- **Customer support**: find reviews without a developer reply.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `apps` | `com.spotify.music` or `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music` |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | Default 200; `0` = as many as Google Play returns |
| `sort` | `newest` (default), `most_relevant`, `rating` |
| `ratings` | Only these stars, e.g. `["1","2"]` |
| `onlyReviewsNewerThan` | Skip older reviews, e.g. `2026-09-01` |
| `language`, `country` | Default `en` / `us` |

```json
{
  "apps": ["com.spotify.music", "com.whatsapp"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
  "sort": "newest",
  "ratings": ["1", "2"]
}
```

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `appId`, `appTitle` | Package name and app name |
| `reviewId`, `url` | Review ID and link |
| `rating` | 1-5 stars |
| `text` | Review text |
| `date` | Review time (ISO, UTC) |
| `thumbsUp` | "Helpful" votes |
| `appVersion` | App version the reviewer used (when shown) |
| `developerReply`, `developerReplyDate` | The developer's answer |
| `userName` | Public display name of the reviewer |
| `language`, `country`, `sort` | Settings used |

```json
{
  "appId": "com.spotify.music",
  "appTitle": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "rating": 1,
  "text": "as how much I like using Spotify it's a bit too greedy with premium ...",
  "date": "2026-10-18T23:15:01.000Z",
  "thumbsUp": 0,
  "developerReply": null
}
```

#### Status rows (free)

`invalid_input` (not a package name or Play URL), `not_found` (app not on Google Play in that country), `no_reviews` (nothing matched the filters), `failed` (Google Play did not answer; try again).

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0015 per result** ($1.50 per 1,000 saved rows). Each saved data row is one `result` event. Status rows, error rows and empty lookups are not charged. The run stops when it reaches the maximum cost per run. No Apify proxy and no login.

### Tips

- With several star ratings the limit applies to all of them together.
- Google Play returns reviews in the selected language; run once per language for global coverage.
- Use `onlyReviewsNewerThan` + `sort: newest` on a daily schedule to pay only for new reviews.

Reads public review data from Google Play like a visitor. Use the data responsibly.
