## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## FMCSA New Trucking Carriers: Bulk Feed by State & Fleet Size

Get **newly registered US trucking companies** in bulk, straight from FMCSA's official *Company Census File* on data.transportation.gov (all active, inactive and pending USDOT entities, refreshed by FMCSA; ~4,400 new USDOT records in a recent 12-day window). No logins, no SAFER page scraping, no proxies.

### Why this one

- **Bulk filters most FMCSA actors don't have:** state, city, ZIP prefix, exact add-date range, **fleet size (min/max power units)**, minimum drivers, **operation classification** (for-hire, exempt for-hire, private property, passenger, government...), interstate vs intrastate, hazmat, 30 cargo types, docket present, USDOT status.
- **Bulk lookup:** up to 500 USDOT numbers per run.
- **Fast and cheap:** filters run server-side on the official API; 10 rows in a few seconds.

### Who it's for

Truck insurance agents, factoring companies, ELD/fuel-card/dispatch/compliance vendors, equipment dealers and freight brokers who want **new carriers first**.

### What you get (one row per carrier)

`dotNumber`, `legalName`, `dbaName`, `addedDate`, `mcs150Date`, `statusCode`, `operation`, `authorityClasses`, `hazmat`, `powerUnits`, `trucks`, `buses`, `drivers`, `cdlDrivers`, `cargoTypes`, `dockets`, `safetyRating`, physical `street/city/state/zip`, mailing city/state/zip, and a SAFER snapshot link.

**Business data only.** This actor never outputs phone numbers, emails, fax numbers or company officer names, even though the source file contains them. By default it also skips carriers whose legal name looks like a person's name (no LLC/INC/TRUCKING/LOGISTICS-type word); turn off *Business-named carriers only* to include them.

### Examples

- New for-hire interstate Texas carriers with 2-10 trucks, last 14 days:
  `{"addedWithinDays":14,"states":["TX"],"minPowerUnits":2,"maxPowerUnits":10,"authorityTypes":["forHire"],"operationTypes":["A"]}`
- October hazmat carriers in TX/OK/LA: `{"addedFrom":"2026-10-01","addedTo":"2026-10-31","states":["TX","OK","LA"],"hazmat":"yes"}`
- Refrigerated-food carriers in Florida: `{"states":["FL"],"cargoTypes":["coldfood"],"addedWithinDays":30}`
- Bulk lookup: `{"dotNumbers":["5040211"]}`

### Notes

- `addedDate` is FMCSA's census ADD_DATE. `operation`: Interstate / Intrastate hazmat / Intrastate non-hazmat.
- Brand-new carriers usually have no MC docket yet; dockets appear later (about 22% of carriers added in the last 3 months list one).
- *Authority type* uses the MCS-150 operation classification. It is not FMCSA's L\&I operating-authority grant status (common/contract/broker); check the SAFER link for that.

### Pricing

Pay per result. Use **Max results** to cap spend.

### Source & terms

Data: https://data.transportation.gov/d/az4n-8mr2 (U.S. DOT / FMCSA, public open data). Reads the official Socrata API, honors robots.txt and its 1-second crawl delay. Addresses are as filed with FMCSA. Verify with FMCSA before legal or underwriting use. Not affiliated with FMCSA or USDOT.
